I'm pretty sure Stevie Wonder can see the O-line is bad. - HonkFortheGoose
Someone was trying to defend our O-line on Twitter and I followed up with this:
Look around the league... Bills starting o-line makes $9m. Jets $30m, Miami $25m, Browns, Philly, Cowboys and Steelers $31m, Saints $33m.
Saints offensive lineman average $6.6m. Bills top 5 make $9m total!!!
Hard to argue how bad our line is when there are 34 players in the league playing o-line that make more than our entire starting 5. |

It's bad. Though I will say that there were probably 2 sacks the other day that could have just as easily been incomplete passes but our QBs (Pretty sure both Peterman and Allen did it) held onto it too long instead of just throwing it away and ended up losing yards.
At the end of the day though, the O-line is a problem and it doesn't matter if they put Tom Brady back there. He'll still get his ass handed to him. |

My guess at our opening night lineup which has changed about 10 times this summer and is changing as I am typing this.
Skinner-Eichel-Thompson
Sheary-Mitts-Reinhart
Erod-Berglund-Okposo
Wilson-Sobotka-Pominville
Bailey, Baptiste, as extras.
Let Asplund and Nylander go down to Rochester for 20 or so games and if they tear it up, and Bailey and Baptiste can't show us anything they havent already in the first 20 games, start entertaining trade offers for them. Larsson on waivers, Girgensons traded

Only 3 of the sacks were the O-Lines fault IMO. Ducasse and Dawkins actually played well (ratings support this) However, Groy, Mills and Miller were horrendous on the right side. Those 3 all ranked bottom 5 in their position week one. You can have one guy suck... but to have the entire right side rank bottom 5.. yikes. Allen needs time to show off that big arm. |

I did not watch the tape. If what you say is true, and I'm not disputing it, when you couple that with the report that Bill's receivers had 4.6 yards of separation, which reportedly was among the best ... I guess we can surmize the Peterman was absolutely putrid.
That said, from what I saw of Allen, he seemed to be on the run 2 of every 3 plays.
So, maybe from the perspective of sacks only, the O-line play wasn't rated as poorly as the eye test would suggest....but there were a ton of QB pressure plays that would suggest the eye test is more accurate. |

Bailey and Girgensons to a contender for a 3rd
Those two would be good depth for a team, but we don't need them.
I still can't believe we lost the "Gaustad for a 1st" trade. |

Just say they are dog feces and need to be flushed from the team. |

Girgs probably still has 2-3 years left in the league. Someone would take a shot at him on waivers, and then he'll get another show-me contract before he heads off to HPK in sm-liiga or whatever
But yeah, c ya. |

LET ME DREAM - jcragcrumple Is there really a market for Sabres players who aren't good enough to make the roster? Are they any better than the options that will come on the waiver wire?

Jordan Nolan found work somehow, so I guess anything is possible. |

The worst team in the league claimed him for free. That's really my point, when you get into camp, there's a lot of free options to round out your roster, without trading away future picks.

I meant Nolan found work this year. But to the broader point, I'd be fine with losing 22 and 28 for nothing if it means some of Asplund/Malone/Olofsson/O'Regan/Thompson/
Nylander/Bailey/Baptiste are playing. We all know those two guys are not the long-term answer. I'm all for trying something new.
The amount of veteran leadership, skill and useful experience they bring is negligible |
