Against the spread or straight up? I wouldn't say Saints are a safe pick at all against the spread. I like Chargers -7 against Arizona though. - pinkfloydfreak
Chargers @ Bills
Arizona - 13 @ Rams |

Picks are straight up. I like Rams and Chargers but they may have value down the line. Chargers may be the way to go. Bills are staring a rookie QB |

Can you discount what Gudas has done before last season? I like the competition also but I'm not going to root against a player, Gudas who I know is capable of being a better player than Folin is.
I don't buy the suspension angle at all. I just think Gudas didn't play well and was never able to form chemistry with Manning. He simply had a poor season. Let's see if he bounces back. - MJL
I dont discount what Gudas has done. I hope that there is competition in camp and it makes him better. We differ on what the suspensions did to Gudas. I hope last year was just an adjustment and he comes back better. Last year he was prone to doing too much and TO's. Gudas also struggled more than usual knocking better players and palyers with size off the puck. Plus he was AGAIN a key part to a terrible PK. I think that is where him being more tentative shows up.
Folin is 2 year into his pro career and true enough he could be just a 7th D or playing on a good team like the Kings, might have helped him become better. His year with Minn was also solid. If Gudas can't raise his game, Folin continues to show improvement, it would be a good swap.
If Gudas can return to his game, all good.

I used to play this way, but always ended up getting bit in the butt.
I went with the Rams this week. I got lucky with Green Bay last week. Half the people went out in week one with The Saints and a few others. |

Last season, primarily in the first half of the season, Sanheim and Radko Gudas were a frequent defense pairing. That seems likely to be the case to start this season, but things can chance.
If the Flyers are going to pair Sanheim with Gudas, they might as well send him back to Lehigh Valley. Playing with Gudas basically wrecked his game. The only guy on the roster last year, literally, who was functional in a pairing with Gudas was Manning. Let's hope Gudas is the 7th or 8th Dman. |

I don't see how you've justified wanting Folin to beat Gudas out. Folin is 27, how much more do you think he has left in development?

If the Packers didn’t come back 80% of my league would have been out. I was so upset lol. Rodgers and Cobb also bent me over in fantasy to win. But I ended up choosing the Rams. Good luck ! |

Stolie is the forgotten man isn’t he? Let’s hope there’s a fire lit there - Just5
He's forgettable. In three years in the A he was outplayed by Rob Zepp, Martin Oullette and Alex Lyon. It was charitable for the Flyers to resign him to give him a shot to recover, but he is destined for a long career in Europe or the East Coast league. |

The best hope for the Flyers is for Gudas to regain his game and get back to being the player he was before last season. That is what would be best for the Flyers for this upcoming season.

Folin is a more sound player. His game did get substantially better last year. Gudas is a shadow of his former self. The only stat he is ever going to lead is PIM, and unlike past years, his penalties aren't "tough" penalties any more they are the penalties you take when you get beat. Sanheim struggled so much with Gudas he was benched and his fundamentals fell apart, while paired with AMac he played lights out. So either AMac is amazing, or Gudas is death. Choose. |

Pretty sure if he does that, he will just be occupying a roster spot for 40 games on suspension. |

Note from Philly sports network.
This kid Myers has an edge like I have never seen him have before. The jump in his skates is lightning fast, and he is just so tough to beat one-on-one. He is going to be tough to beat out for a spot on the opening night roster, barring injury of course. Myers is the real deal, and the Flyers top brass are licking their chops to give this kid a taste of NHL action. He is well on his way in securing a spot on the opening night roster, as Myers played well during the rookie game on Wednesday.
I know it is just drills but that along with Bill and yeah I am excited to see this kid make it. You can't help get excited for Myers and SanHeim with another year, adding to Provy, Ghost etc. I actually hope Folin Beats out Gudas. The Flyers will finally have size, speed and skill with an edge.
Note on G is that he added added muscle and is faster, keeping up with the kids.
note on Patrick is that his testing is much better than last year due to off-season training and he is stronger and faster...
Yes, I have my Flyer shaded glasses on this AM, it must be the Baileys in my coffee.... - wcorvette
YES! Myers is the only legitimate NHL talent prospect on D right now. I hope he can demonstrate he is ready, and that Hagg rediscovers his game. If Myers is ready to play top 4, and the Flyers can find a 3C whose name isn't Laughton or Weal (both had career seasons last year, and that's not a good thing), they FLyers could actually start winning playoff series.

Folin has not played near the level that Gudas has played at as an NHL defenseman. The statement that Folin is a more sound player is not based in fact. It is true that Gudas struggled last year but it remains to be seen if he can regain his form. If he does, he is a much better player than Folin is.
Sanheim's struggles had zero to do with Gudas.

I haven’t, I am just looking at both possibilities. Folin could be a Laura bloomer, that is not unusual for a big D or any D
Maybe last years gudas is gudas, in which case we better hope Folin is the plAyer he was last season.
I hope... read that again. Gudas feels the competition and beats out Folin by a long shot. My fear is he is now limited and his game is lesser from the suspensions. That he becomes a drag on his D partner. Without another standout attribute like size or speed he becomes a 6-7 D.
That said I was a big fan that G would bounce back, that injuries slowed simmer, gudas deserves every chance to win |

MacDonald is out for most of the first month of the season. There is a spot available to be won.
The Kings have always been a very strong defensive team. Folin is just a depth 6/7 in my opinion until he proves otherwise. Gudas has shown he can be a better player than that. - MJL
It really doesn't matter who the 7 are for the first 8 games. It's the other 74 that matter. Assume AMac is one of the six who dress. That means Gudas/Folin/Hagg/Sanheim gets waived to make room for Myers. If you are going to waive Hagg, you might as well just trade him. If you waive Gudas, maybe you get lucky and someone claims him. |

The Flyers have a number of defense prospects that could wind up as NHL players.
