TLDR 14 pages most of which is bickering about Sutter. Some excitement about the kids. Bickering about who will play center because of Sutter (see above). Surprise about Beagle being in good shape.

Most 20 year olds shouldn't be out duelling the older players in physical testing. Some players are just better physically then others. I doubt Beagle is going to out bench Gunnarsson or beat Virtanen in a foot race.

I disagree, I think a hungry 20 should be able to outperform someone 10 years their senior. It's great that the Sedin's and Beagles are in good shape but I want to see Horvat, Baertschi, Goldobin, Liepsic, Gaunce etc coming in and showing how determined they are to be the best.

I love it. Beagle dominates training at the age of 32. Most people are just simply impressed. You are trying to dig deeper and criticize the whole organization as our 20 year olds should be better. Gold Belcher Gold. Boeser will score 40 this season and you will cry because none were via slap shot

You're just being wishful. 32 year old Beagle is just as hungry as those 20 somethings.

And again no most 20 year olds aren't going to beat someone in their early 30's

At previous training camps, you could quickly spot 12 or 15 players who looked out of place, couldn't play at a high level. This year at Whistler there's not one. Jim and Travis are going to have some tough decisions. A good problem !

Weisbrod: This is the biggest jump at camp for Olli. He's a different guy, because he was drafted where he was, guys think he needs to be dynamic. We drafted him because he's calm and can put out fires. That may not be the sexy plays but we're still bullish on him.

If true, this group is even dumber than I thought. You don't draft a guy that early to be calm...

“Over the last three or four years, I’ve completely revamped my training,” said the Calgary native. “More conditioning, more speed work and less heavy lifting and less bulking up. You still work on strength, but in a different aspect. If you don’t adapt, you get slow-footed and that’s when you’re out because it’s such a speed game.” (Beagle)

This is what I was talking about a few weeks ago. The training for players seems to be changing. I remember in previous years all the younger players doing heavy back squats and power lifting exercises that are hard on wrists, back, shoulders. Hopefully less injuries this season.

Good read thx

In my competitive ball days I worked out one winter & found no benefits. Being sports active year round in all my earlier years i found it cane more naturally & was more about minor details. Other than diet mental prep was most important along with attention to details as in knowing the opposition as s self study. I cannot say that works for everyone but simply pounding the weights is overrated. Cardio & endurance was.

What does tanev have to do with Juolevi? If, given the benefit of hindsight, folks knew that tanev would have turned out this good he would have been a top 10 pick.
