For the second day in a row, the late-morning scrimmage between the Canucks’ too main practice groups was played at a high pace. Petrus Palmu, the little Finnish winger, was a true standout, creating a number of chances for Team White and scoring a goal himself. White won 3-1 as Darren Archibald, on a breakaway no less, and Nikolay Goldobin also scored.

Jake Virtanen scored the lone goal for Team Blue, a doorstep tap-in finish off a Brandon Leipsic pass on a two-on-one. Leipsic made a nifty toe-drag move after speeding in on the left wing to create space and then zinged the puck over to Virtanen, who paced himself perfectly into the crease.

Afterwards, Canucks scout Thomas Gradin had a wide smile when prompted with the name “Palmu,” laughed and said “looking verrrrry good.”

The NFL is far from a garbage league or a pool of garbage talent, it's the best North American football athletes but they happen to play four downs, big deal. It's by far the best product.

Whether you're Canadian or American or when the league started is really of no relevance when you talk product, the NFL is better on a whole.

That doesn't mean, to ME, there aren't entertaining CFL games, there are, just not as many.

A good second period sees goals from Goldobin, Archibald (on a breakaway!) and Palmu for the white squad, then Virtanen with a tap-in after a great deke by Leipsic to find space on a 2 on 1.

Palmu definitely a standout. Thomas Gradin was beaming afterwards. ‘Oh yes, looking veryyyyy good.

I really hope the CFL folds.

Don't want it to fold they just need a way to replenish the marquee talent...very low right now. Gone are the days of Flutie, Ham, Calvillo, Garcia so on and so forth. Now we have the days of Lulay, Reilly and Bo Ribeye Mitchell.

Never been able to watch the CFL. I liked the days where you had 8 teams that were going 6-0 and wonder which team would lose first. Last season I think only KC made it to 5-0 and they ended up what 8-8?

It goes in cycles. NFL was damn near unwatchable 10 years ago before they started with run/gun offences again. Watching 9-7pt games all year with run-run-run-punt all the time was getting out of control. It's way better now with obviously a much overall higher talent pool than the CFL. The CFL can be good again they just need to do the right adjustments.
