That’s my point though
He’s obviously SUPER talented
But he needs to LEARN much more before he gets in there
He’s obviously confused
He wasn’t recognizing blitzes & shifting line protections
*him having no time was OFTEN HIS FAULT
And when he did have time...
he wasn’t seeing open WRs on numerous occasions
They kept pointing that out too

I get the whole “learn on the job thing”
But he just looks massively underprepared to me still

Besides all of the above,
let me ask you this...

If he wasn’t “ready” to start Week One,
What was it that made him ready a few days later?

My question is, does sitting make this better for him?

Or, just playing now make it harder for him to learn that stuff?

- sbroads24

If we still had Tyrod, probably, likely even, but nothing good can come from watching Peterman play QB.

I’m not even sure having Tyrod helps Allen.

Either he’s going to figure it out, or he doesn’t.

I think dahlin makes a huge difference
- Michael Pachla

Absolutely. Hoping Bogo doesn't "mentor" him on how to be hurt all the time. We need him and Jack firing on all cylinders.

I totally think there comes a point where u put the guy in, and he learns on the job

But right NOW,
he just looks confused
And i do think there’s an element of diminishing returns
Especially if a guy is just getting whipped on week after week

Doesn’t mean he can’t play though the beating and still learn from it
I just don’t see the point in trying to win (idk..) 6games? Instead of 3 or 4?
Not worth the risk imo

Not this early
That’s how i see it anyways
Not like it matters

If u think how good Peterman is it isn’t,
has ANY EFFECT on whether or not Allen is more ready to play this week than last...
then idk what to tell ya?
It doesn’t make 1 bit of difference

Good points.

Peterman sucking made allen ready.
Allen didnt make allen ready
.

We have been hearing he needed time to adjust, since the draft.

He starts bad next week, its peterman in the 2nd half

- Boss34

That’s my thing though
Peterman sucking didn’t actually make Allen better prepared
It just made us not wanna see Peterman anymore

I totally get that
But it also doesn’t mean that it’s smart when it comes to developing Allen correctly

And as i keep saying...
that is by far & away the most important objective for us this season
*to develop Allen correctly

He's not "ready", but he isn't going to learn anything behind Nathan Peterman. Given the current circumstances of this team, he is not harming his development by playing now.

He's also got over 8 times the passing yards Peterman had last week, so there's that.
- Wetbandit1

Lol
Garbage time stats made Bortles a top5 fantasy QB a couple years ago
Allen didn’t do jack in the first half
Chargers sat back quite a bit in the 2nd half
So did the Ravens

Not like we lost by a couple
We got whipped

I sure hope your not saying peterman should be playing... Allen is not ready but at least he’s moving the offense... and getting better. Peterman has no future as an nfl qb, zero, none.

Edit as he throws his 2nd int... lol... still better then peter man

- gordong

I’m saying I’d rather go 0-8 with Peterman,
and put Allen in when he’s “ready” and won’t get himself killed

Yes, play Peterman next week

ITS OK THAT ALLEN ISNT READY
We all knew it was gonna take time with Allen
Least “ready” 1st round QB when drafted

It’s ok to give the guy some time & not rush him

Mayfield is sitting in Cleveland
Rosen is sitting in ARZ
Lost of great QBs didn’t start right away

Isn't Vontae Davis related to Vernon Davis ? Maybe they're both gay ... Vernon is without a doubt.

The premise for sitting him was because there was a better QB on the roster. There's no reason to sit him if the other guy is worse. Learning by doing is always better than learning by watching.

And I'd take Tyrod and Bradford over Peterman, hell, I'd take Tim Hasselbeck, today, over Peterman. There's no way McDermott could look his team in the eye and tell them Allen is sitting, especially after he threw for 10 times the yards today.

WTF does that have to do with anything?

I liked his 2nd half overall, didn't get a chance to see the first half.

I was just being a smartass, that a young player that had quite a good year last year(Goff) made the same mistake(scrambled out of a sure sack, and under-threw a player when he really should've just thrown it away) Allen made that prompted the stupid "NOT READY" comment.

- Wetbandit1

Weird that the Rams sat Goff till like game9 his rookie year bc they didn’t think he was ready yet

Hmmmmmmmmm

Allen had more passing yards in his first 2 completions than Peterman had in 2 and a half quarters.

That doesn’t mean squat to me
Again...
I’d rather be 0-8 and develop Allen correctly,
than be 2-6 and watch him getting killed & developing bad habits

Yeah, and again, I'd take Keenum over Peterman, you're caught up on teams that have actual, NFL QBs on their teams. Peterman shouldn't even be on a roster.

Doesn’t matter

Comparing Allen to Peterman makes ZERO difference to me

Only thing that matters is not rushing Allen & developing him correctly

Just like the Rams didn’t rush Goff
Just like Rosen & Mayfield aren’t being rushed...
even though EVERYONE said they were much more developed & ready than Allen

Sorry dude...
you’re just looking at this from the wrong angle

Getting Allen killed bc Peterman blows is dumb

Yeah, but the coach and GM would never last, the fans would revolt, eventually Uncle Terry would force Allen into the lineup and they'd be an even bigger laughingstock than they are now. It's not just a question if he's "ready" or not. A ton of rookie QBs make mistakes, it's going to happen. And in before Pat Mahomes. Put Allen on the Chiefs with the Wizard Walrus Andy Reid, and that offense and he'd be amazing. He has 2/5 of an O-Line here and a "number 1 WR" who can't catch or get separation.

How many wins do we have this year with Allen vs Peterman?

We are still gonna be really, really bad this year
Why risk our “franchise” guy?

Oh, i know...
he has a better arm than Peterman

Just remind me of that when Allen gets his arm broken when he gets hit from the blindside bc he didn’t diagnose a blitz was coming & shift protection
