He is a very good player who knows the system and is best friends with the face of the franchise. They want him to be part of the future. He has leverage.
- Der Kaiser

Not sure if they are besties any longer?

Jack found his own home, the bromance maybe over.

Sam being friends with eichel isn't leverage.

What's next, sam plays overseas?

Then the Sabres use one of the half dozen extra forwards

I thought he was having trouble with the " system" . Well the center position for sure.

Still waiting. Who here blamed the loss on Allen?

JFC, just stop, he's a goddamn rookie from what may as well be a DIII school, how good do you want him to be?

He's composed, trying to pump up his teammates, not sulking on the sidelines, he carried a defender for like 8 yards and tried to make something happen, he'll learn, hopefully.

- Wetbandit1

That’s my point though
He’s obviously SUPER talented
But he needs to LEARN much more before he gets in there
He’s obviously confused
He wasn’t recognizing blitzes & shifting line protections
*him having no time was OFTEN HIS FAULT
And when he did have time...
he wasn’t seeing open WRs on numerous occasions
They kept pointing that out too

I get the whole “learn on the job thing”
But he just looks massively underprepared to me still

Besides all of the above,
let me ask you this...

If he wasn’t “ready” to start Week One,
What was it that made him ready a few days later?

First it was Peterman should be the starter, now the always injured EJ Gaines should still be a Bill because that would make a difference. (frank) off.

My nicknames for players are their nicknames genius. I didn’t coin skunk or dirty pod racer. You know, what you must consider normal nicknames.

- Hatboro_Swords

I’m just confused on this.

He didn’t sign a big deal. He was 27 and signed a 1 year, after being decent here.

We chose to sign....Vontae Davis.

My question is, does sitting make this better for him?

Or, just playing now make it harder for him to learn that stuff?

Good points.

Peterman sucking made allen ready.
Allen didnt make allen ready.

We have been hearing he needed time to adjust, since the draft.

He starts bad next week, its peterman in the 2nd half

You're conflating 2 separate points

Literally no one blamed him for the loss.

I hated the Allen pick at the draft, but he's absolutely (frank)ed for the next 14 weeks. There's no help coming. No salvation. He's about to be eaten alive on the field and in the national media for the next 12 months

He was decent when he played. He didn’t play all that much. I see he played in 11 games last year, but no idea how many games he actually finished. He was often injured before he got here, often injured when he was here and often injured after. That gets to be annoying.

Vontae Davis was a terrible choice. I’m frustrated by all of this.

With the cap money freed up they can sign Anquan Boldin.

Hank,
if think he’s ready
Then fine man
Good for u

But he obviously needs WAY more work

When u can’t read defenses to the point where you aren’t making line protections...
then he’s just gonna get killed

What’s the point of that?
Let the dude learn some

We all knew he was the least ready when we drafted him
Yet,
Mayfield sits
Rosen sits
And we RUSH Allen in bc...
why exactly?

The next 8 years means a hell of a lot more than the first half of this season
Nothing good comes from rushing him in before he’s ready

If he was “ready”
then why didn’t he just start week one?

I like Allen and stuck around to see his first nfl touchdown pass.

He was decent part of the loss. First half he was a rookie. Second half too. San Diego laid off on the blitzing

Defense - 55%
O line - 20%
Rookie qb - 15%
Other factors - 10% - like guys retiring during the game

He's not "ready", but he isn't going to learn anything behind Nathan Peterman. Given the current circumstances of this team, he is not harming his development by playing now.
