Nice write-up Pach. Like yourself, I am very excited about this year's edition of the Sabres vs the previous 5 years or so. No more Matt Ellis's or Jordan Nolan's.
I hope guys like Nylander, Guhle and Thompson seize the moment. I also hope Botts has the gumption to punt retreads like Larsson, Girgs and Beaulieu to the minors. Better yet, trade those bums for a 7th rounder. It's time to stop stinking. - SabreWest
the fourth line is giving me some trouble as I build the roster...we'll see what happens the next few days |

Sobotka too. Since he has Pommer on the 3rd line, I'd go with ERod/Sobotka/Baptiste.
I see Berglund as 3C, which pushes ERod to 3LW and Wilson at 4LW. 4RW could go to just about anyone. |

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Patriots are "getting close" to acquiring Josh Gordon.
Remain calm. Gordon to the Patriots would be a true dream outcome for those who took the Gordon plunge in the early/mid-rounds of their draft, but we should not lose sight of the fact that Gordon will be on extremely thin ice wherever he ends up. The Pats are known for giving players second chances. They also known for immediately moving on when those players do not live up to their expectations. Either way, it's hard not to be giddy at the thought of Gordon catching passes from Tom Brady. |

dude's got serious issues...not sure if the browns were hiding anything but the word was that he wasn't feeling right and they were tired of his off-field issues |

Aside from that guy should be called Ryan Van Engels, I don't have a problem with Davis retiring at halftime, but come out on the sidelines and leave when the game is over, or at the very least wait in the room. Just leaving in the middle of the game is kind of gauche. |

I was on board, but I think Allen is good enough to get a few wins later in the year to ruin our draft stock again. (4-12)
The first interception was inexcusable. 2nd was, to me.
What you think of the kid? - RhinoFan
They were both kinda the same to me, tried to make a play when one wasn't there to be made. The one thing that bothered me about it was how he just lobbed them in there, I understand it's hard to put a lot on a ball when you have a 300lb guy hanging from your waist, so that one's kind of ok, but if the throw on the 2nd one was hard it probably doesn't get picked off.
Edit: I was reading last week about the average first game for a rookie QB and it was something like 180 yards 1TD 2INT. So Allen had an average to slightly above average first game. |

Not a bad take. I think I give him a little leeway on the second INT simply because if that ball is literally 2 inches higher, it's a 30-40 yard completion. That DB made a great play to get at that ball.
Still, he certainly did try to force it a few times. A couple of completions and a couple incompletions yesterday could have been picks. He needs to ratchet that back for sure.
Didn't know that was the norm. Makes me feel a bit better about that stat line. |

it's asinine to quit in the middle of a game...
and I really don't want to hear about someone walking out of a burger king in the middle of their shift like bomani jones referred to...sure, there's a level of frustration but a guy making minimum wage with no future vs. a guy that pocketed a $1.5 m signing bonus is not really a comparable |

Too many "depth" guys and that's not including the amount of LHD we have with NHL experience. Hoping Botts is working the phones to pull off another Fasching/Hickey type trade.

Yep, I quoted myself.
These stats are a bit different, and probably better, because I think the article I read had rookie QBs since the merger.
"Since the NFL last expanded and realigned its divisions, rookie quarterbacks making their first starts within the opening month are 15-22 with a 72.2 passer rating.
Their average stat line? 18-of-31 for 203 yards and one touchdown with one interception and two sacks."
