Botts likes Wilson & he played decent for us, so i think he’s safe too
Plus, he’s a guy u could justify more in the press box more than one of the kids who could be getting top minutes in Rochester

E Rod played well enough for us last year to have earned an opening night roster spot as well
That they told E Rod he was shifting back to the wing seems to show they have plans for him playing there

For me...
i think the big questions are between Girgs, Larsson, Bailey & Baptiste
Those are they guys that would have to clear waivers
So if it’s close between one of them & one of the Kids, i think the kid would get sent down
Plus, it probably makes more sense for guys like Thompson, Nylander, Asplund, etc... to get sent down & play big minutes, instead of playing a bottom6/defensive role up here

This is all just to start the season though

Wouldn’t surprise me at all to see some of the kids gets called up at some point & then never go back down

I’d say that Eichel definitely does
Then there’s a bunch of others in the mix for the other 2
Okposo, Bogosian, Ristolainen, Pominville, Scandella & Berglund would be the top candidates imo

Nice write-up Pach. Like yourself, I am very excited about this year's edition of the Sabres vs the previous 5 years or so. No more Matt Ellis's or Jordan Nolan's.

I hope guys like Nylander, Guhle and Thompson seize the moment. I also hope Botts has the gumption to punt retreads like Larsson, Girgs and Beaulieu to the minors. Better yet, trade those bums for a 7th rounder. It's time to stop stinking.

Girgs, bc of his speed, still has a chance to be a good 4th liner here for us...

It’s been said on the past that he was unhappy when playing in the bottom6,
but it pretty clear he’s just not gonna score enough to be top6
That said...
I always thought he’d top out as a defensive 3C
And I’d be totally ok trading him as well
We have lots of guys coming that can fill bottom6 roles
So if someone wants to give us something for him, then ok
Especially if we can package him in one of those 3 for 1 dealers Homie was talking about a while back
