The Leafs didn’t sign the right veteran at league minimum for one year! Sure, the guy I wanted was still signed with his team and wouldn’t be bought out until almost a month after, but that won’t stopped me from arguing about it! Clearly this deal will cripple the Leafs. His years of 40 points are long gone. And they came with a lot of ice time on a bad team, probably with PP time. Like 18-19 min a game was what he was playing to score 40 points. That's Hyman / Bozak territory.

Odds are, he's looking at 5-10 goals and 20-25 points if he plays the whole season if he doesn't get obliterated and injured before then.

Part of the problem, not the solution perhaps. There were years in Buffalo where his numbers were bad and still worse than his teams.

Brouwer's took a big decline last year but the years prior to that were reasonable, unlike Ennis, who's been on the down swing for three years straight, in part because he's not that skillful anymore and because of injuries because he's small, weak and frail to be in the NHL.

I actually looked them up and you're wrong...last 3 years Brouwer was negative compared to the team and Ennis was a positive...but I'd still rather have Matt Martin then either of them on the 4th.

Brouwer has 38 goals in the past 3 years. Ennis has 16. Brouwer could literally do everything Martin can (the few positives that were there, hitting, fighting, veteran leadership) but actually score sometimes if you put him in front of the net.

Not if he's on the team. If he's with the Marlies, where he should be, it's no problem. If he's taking a spot away from a younger guy or a better UFA, it hurts the team.
