to be fair though, if you pair an empty can of Pepsi with McDavid, it would still be the best under-23 combo. - PatC80
That’s why I think they’re the undisputed after that it’s pretty subjective, Dahlin is really the wild card but I have a hard time complaining that he has Buffalo number two. |

Ya but Draisaitl's playoff run played a big part in his new contract, he was easily their best player.
Nylander hasn't come close to his production in the postseason, so he shouldn't get a pay raise like Draisaitl.
If the Leafs sign Willy at 7 million at the most I'm more than okay with that, anything more is an over payment. - LeafGuy89
He gets a bit more cuz he's purdy.

Can't read it unfortunately, what's our rank? - LeafGuy89
Leafs are 4
I like this about the #24 Sens
The Ottawa rebuild has officially begun with the trade of Erik Karlsson and it’s going to take some time to return this franchise to a top team. Fourth-overall pick Brady Tkachuk is a big piece, but most of the Senators’ top young players are non-NHL players who need to prove themselves and even at the prospect ranks they are very good but not amazing.

Remember how a rebuilding Sabres team gave up a 3rd rounder to just speak with Vesey? |

Poehling and Kotkaniemi, should be good, meaning that there is really no rush to get Sebastian Collberg into your lineup. |

Marleau Matthews Kapanen 👍 - mr.sir
actually the Ennis thing really pisses me off.
because of Nylander's contract impasse, Babcock (who I generally always support) seems to "Need to identify a new pet"... with Polak and Komarov gone.
So he picks Ennis, and thereby indirectly doesn't give Kapanen, Leivo, Johnsson or Grundstrom a shot higher up in the line-up. Of course Ennis is going to look better playing with Matthews than Leivo playing with Kadri, or whatever other combo he chooses to put together.
wouldn't it seem like a good idea to give one of the younger guys an audition in that spot... prove that maybe they are more than 3-4 line material? (which would seem to me to also send a better message to Nylander btw)

Sabres have a pretty good young core. Oilers I can see cause of the McDavid factor. Mcdavid/Draisaitl is the best U23 combo. - ClarksonDavid
If you look at it as a whole it doesnt make sense.
Beyond McDavid/Draisaitl their list of U23 players are either completely unproven or good to average players.
Same goes with the Sabres. I think they should be high, but not 1/2. Would you trade Matthews/Marner/Nylander/Kappanen/Jonnson/Dermott for McDavid/Draisaitl/Nurse/Jesse P/Yamamoto/Bouchard for example? |

I'm not questioning that... I'm questioning the premise on Babcock's part of building up a 30 year old guy... versus a younger guy who might grow his game and possibly turn into a significant contributor or trade chip. Ennis will do none of those things. |

Kapanen is already a much better player than Ennis at this point anyway. |

Thats on purpose and a good move as it makes it easier for Babs to slide Nylander riight into the lineup and allows Kapanen to get comfortable with who is going to be his regular team mates.
It actually sets up Kapanen for better success IMO. Good move, and it allows you to see how Ennis will do if they run into injuries. |

I understand what you are trying to indicate... but respectfully disagree. If there's anything the Leafs have in abundance its wingers... and they would seem to be better off (to me) to grow those wingers - rather than help some 30 year old journeyman revive his career. |
