Would it not have been better to pay JVR 7 million and flip Willie for a d-man? Alot of people seem to undervalue JVR. Former 2nd overall, some of the best hands in the league around the net. Performs well in the playoffs. Has Willie proven as much as JVR had at his age?

if the Leafs could have gotten Paryako for Nylander then yes it would make sense. The concept of trying to acquire Karlsson would have been a non-starter for the LEafs... for this upcoming season at 6M cap hit he would have fit... at 11-12 million starting 2019 .. no way.

so question is really would acquiring Paryako/Trouba/whomever for Nylander be the right move?
