I agree that a skilled player will have success on the Flyers top PP unit because of Giroux, Gostisbehere and Voracek. However I think Couturier's breakout likely had more to do with playing on the top line with Giroux and having the burden of checking top lines lessened.

I’m specifically talking about the power play tho;Sorry I didn’t clarify. When comparing Couts production on unit 2 for how many seasons, or even just two seasons ago, his production on the PP jumped a lot being on unit1 last season.

Carson Twarynski?

Simmonds is Def tougher, but JvR was widly successful playing the netfront on the leafs pp last year so not sure how you can say he's better in a different position or that he doesn't offer the same in the crease. Last year NoPa showed great results at the net front on the PP when simmer was hurt. Simmonds is a beast at that position but I think you're undervaluing both how good JvR is and how good the flyers PP system is. Like I said, it's a good problem to have but I don't think Simmonds being on pp1 at the netfront is set in stone, and shouldn't be until we can see he's fully healthy. Putting him there while he's still not 100% is a disservice to the team. When he shows the team he's back to the old simmer, I'm sure he will get ample opportunity to take back his spot, if it is even taken from him in the first place

JvR has a better long range shot then Hartnell, Schenn and Couturier. I know this because I’m from southern Ontario, in the Toronto Region. I’ve seen plenty of JvR since he last played in Philadelphia. Moving him three feet away from the crease and acting as a double screen will still make him fair game at tips and rebounds.

Twarynski has manufactured both goals tonight with great pressure on the puck. Good preseason showing in general so far. He's going to be a good bottom six player in due time.
