Deslaurier got pounded last night and was taken to the hospital...maybe the Habs would take Weise back to add some veteran presence and grit to protect their kids.
After watching a little last night, that is a solid line-up. I always believed in that "veteran" presence in the bottom 6 though. Weise did play well but as people point out, he has shown flashes before. Lehtera has yet to play. I do believe they are waived or moved. Still early in preseason but I can't imagine NAK or Misha regressing after a few games.

If things go the way i want to see, I have a hard time seeing him or Lehtara in the stating lineup.

I'll happily drive him to the airport and carry his bags.
Also every player on the 4th line could move up in the lineup if needed. Someone gets hurt, you could move Aube-Kubel, Raffl or Laughton up or in the middle or on the wing. Lehtara slides into a 4th line center role.
I love JVR’s big butt screening the goalie on the power play. Look at both ghost goals... Gotta give JVR’s butt the assist there.
Myers looked ok tonight IMO. Some good plays and some slips. I think Zamula and Friedman quietly had good nights.
Vorobyov looks like he is trying to lock down 3C. Good for him.
Was really watching Hart tonight. Man he is so technically sound and so smooth along the ice. I really can’t wait for this kid. It’s like seeing all the presents under your tree before Christmas. This preseason is the one you get to open the night before.... - youarewrong
Yeah, I had never considered before what a help to Ghost JVR's net front presence will be. That cannon of a shot coupled with a screen coupled with an ability to tip almost anything is going to pay off I bet.

Biggest upside is Misha gets experience at NHL level at 3C and can slot down to 4C when Frost is ready.....win win
That would be a sick lineup with a balance of high end skill in the top 6 and some young players on lines 3 and 4 which will be more interesting to watch than Weise and Lehtera plodding along.

Absolutely and it's the forward lineup I'm hoping to see.
On D, once Sanheim and AMac are back, I'd like to see:
Provy-Ghost
Sanheim-Gudas
Amac-Myers
Hagg-traded or kept as the 7th man
Folin-traded or waived or kept as spare if Hagg is moved
It's a young D in age but Provorov, Gostisbehere, MacDonald and even Folin are veterans. Sanheim and Hagg have had solid pro years, even if not full NHL seasons.

As much as Gudas struggled last year, I still think he's a better player than Hagg. Hagg does a decent job of defending down low in the D zone and will hit, but man, his outlet passes are atrocious and he's a flat out liability in the O zone. I'd actually look to move him while he's still young and has some value.
edit: I would look to move to Gudas at next year's draft and replace him with Morin at that point. Next year, you could possibly see something like:
Provorov-Myers
Ghost with either Sanheim or Morin depending on game situation
AMac with either Sanheim or Morin depending on game situation

And I think Hagg can give you everything Gudas does. If they would move Hagg I wouldn't be upset depending on return but I am not sure he has huge value. I feel he is more valuable to the Flyers then someone else. I still feel there is a little more to Haggs game.

Excuse me? Are we talking about Robert "Orr" Hagg?
Edit: In all honesty, I'd rather keep him over Gudas because 1) Gudas has a higher cap hit and 2) Hagg is younger and has more room to improve.
Also, Hagg is Swedish, so he has that going for him.

I liked what I saw from Aube-Kubel last night in a pre season game against a non NHL roster. He's not a guarantee to even make the team so while I think he has potential, let's wait and see if he can play in the NHL full time on a 4th line before stating that he can move up in the lineup.

I'd rather see JVR in the high slot and Simmonds at the net front spot.

Gudas at his best is a better player than Hagg is in my opinion.

I agree. He looked good, but it was basically an above-average AHL opponent they played last night. If he can keep up that level of play as the preseason progresses, then maybe he'll earn a spot. Then, after he's earned that spot, we can talk about him moving up.
I agree with everyone here that Vorobyev looked better than Weal, but in Weal's defense, Vorobyev had played his 3rd game this preseason. This was Weal's first.
Not trying to be a Weal sympathizer; if I had to choose, I would choose Misha right now.

I don't think he needs to make the roster to notice an ability to play on a line that requires more skill. He has the necessary abilities to play higher in the lineup if it were required, which is useful to consider when finalizing a roster. It doesn't mean he is going to make the team because they can play him in the top six, if necessary, but he is a better option than Weise or Lehtera. It doesn't even mean he is going to do well in that role, but he has the skillset that should make it possible.

Totally agree.
I was pointing out there is more potential compared to a lineup where I see 4th liners who are limited. Goulbourne and Leier I see strictly as 4th liners. I see more potential in a 4th line with the guys I listed compared to other options.
Plus I just like it more. Leier, Weise, Lehtara are what they are.

Love how they put him on the PP in the preseason but not in the AHL.
