Not saying he cant. I just don't see it. I think his skills translate to playing with guys in the top 9. I know you want 4 lines you can roll but there will always be a difference in minutes from top line to other lines. - J35Bacher
I think the Flyers should just roll with the roster from the 2010 Canadian Olympic team. |

I want as much talent as possible in the lineup. If their 4 best centers next season are Coots, Patrick, Frost and Vorobyev than you roll with those 4. Vorobyev will get plenty of ice time in that type of lineup. Figure 9 mins or so at ES on the 4th line. another minute or 2 of ES time moving up to line 3 when you are protecting a lead and probably another 1-1.5 minutes on the PK. All in all, he'd still likely play 11-13 minutes a night and the team would better down the middle. - BiggE
Just looking to the future, I think Rubtsov will end up in that role.
But whatever...it's nice the Flyers have the prospect depth to have these good problems. |

The whole transition was great. With guys like Provorov, Myers, Gostisbehere and Sanheim I hope to see more of that in the future. - J35Bacher
Not only welcome, but completely necessary. It will be the biggest difference for this team. It is something Gudas has done well (more with passing than skating) in the past and it kind of went away last year. |

Just looking to this year...If Simmonds is on the 3rd line, what are we looking for in production? Does anyone think his role could change a little since he could be getting maybe a little less ice time at ES and possibly not seeing as much top PP time?
Just looking to see what people think. |

I think if Simmonds is not going to be on the 1st unit PP then that tilts the scale to they should trade him for me. I think his production will definitely be limited because of it. 20 and 20 would be really strong.

If he's playing mainly on the 3rd line and on the 2nd pp unit, there will certainly be some drop in his production. Assuming he's healthy and can stay healthy all season, I'd look for maybe 25 goals and 40-45 points.
If JVR, who probably unlike Simmonds is going to be here for a while, is going to play net front on pp1, then you want a RH shot in the other mid ice slot. If that guy isn't going to be the net front guy, you are better off having a guy with more overall skill like Patrick in that position.
My pp units would be:
Ghost
Giroux
Voracek
Patrick
JVR
Provorov
Konecny
Sanheim or Couturier*
Couturier or Lindblom*
Simmonds
*depends on game situation and if they want 4 or 3 forwards on the ice.

You're talking to someone who refuses to refer to Ron Hextall by anything other than his full first name, Ronald. So I'm not surprised. |

My PP units would be:
Giroux
Couturier
Simmonds
Konecny
Gostisbehere
Voracek
Patrick
JVR
Weal
Provorov
More evenly divided in ice time, but internally competitive. If A unit scores, they get to start the next PP.

Not sure I'd be happy with Weal on the PP, and he's not even guaranteed a roster spot. I'd put Myers or Sanheim in his spot. |

Weal would work great on the PP...in the AHL. |
