On the d-men discussion, I’m not going to argue for Hägg at this point. I’m happy he is being given a chance. He has been very inconsistent so far. He has to earn his spot. But the same should be true of Gudas, who btw I haven’t seen in a preseason game yet. Curious as to how he did on the fitness testing. How has he looked in practice?

I appreciate they are giving it a shot with Weal at 3C but I think he actually needs to show something before the end of preseason.

Personally, I'd prefer he not play the preseason acting like he's got the luxury of coasting his way through it like an established NHL vet might do. I'm not saying he's done that (I missed Monday night's game), but I don't want read stories about him shaking off rust or whatever other quotes you might hear for why a player struggles in the preseason.

I think if Simmonds is not going to be on the 1st unit PP then that tilts the scale to they should trade him for me. I think his production will definitely be limited because of it. 20 and 20 would be really strong.
