I don't care who out of JVR, Simmonds, Patrick and Couturier play with G, Ghost and Voracek on PP1. I just want PP2 to not be a black hole this season. |

JvR is being paid like a guy who's playing on PP1 and does the same role as Simmonds do the math. - dragonoffrost
Apples and oranges. Players signed their contracts at different times in their careers. That doesn't in anyway point out that one player is better than the other. Simmonds has been one of the top PP net front players, if not the best in the league for a number of years. Until proven otherwise we don't know that's changed. The fact that JVR signed a UFA contract doesn't change any of that.
Simmonds is a RH shot, JVR a LH shot.

If you notice I never knocked Simmonds ability or what he has done for the Flyers. But I don't agree with "unfair". From last year to this year things have changed. They have added a new player, who also plays a similar role to Simmonds on the PP, and is being paid to do it. Simmonds was also hurt last year. i don't know what effect that will have this year.
What I don't agree with is this feeling of unfair and that the Flyers owe it to Simmonds to give him his spot back.
If the PP is better with Simmonds there then he'll be there. If it is more productive with van Riemsdyk there I want him there. - J35Bacher
I don't think it has anything to do with fair or unfair. This is pro hockey. If they decide to go with JVR on the first unit and Simmonds is not on the first unit, that's life. Nothing unfair about it in my opinion.

Look, in my opinion, anyone who thinks that JvR is gonna come in and do what Simmonds does is a Simpleton. A simpleton doing simple things. JvR and Simmonds may wear the title of power forward but they offer different styles. Wayne Simmonds is tough as nails, willing to get his nose dirty and offers a lot more in the crease than JvR and this has shown for years. JvR is a more skilled, pure shooter. Better hands, better skating. JvR needs to play in that, Hartnell/Schenn/Couturier spot for the double screen. |

Absolutely and it's the forward lineup I'm hoping to see.
On D, once Sanheim and AMac are back, I'd like to see:
Provy-Ghost
Sanheim-Gudas
Amac-Myers
Hagg-traded or kept as the 7th man
Folin-traded or waived or kept as spare if Hagg is moved - BiggE
Provy-Myers
AMac-Sanheim

He's not referring to you. SSB called it "unfair" if they don't play Simmonds on the top power play |

Simmonds is Def tougher, but JvR was widly successful playing the netfront on the leafs pp last year so not sure how you can say he's better in a different position or that he doesn't offer the same in the crease. Last year NoPa showed great results at the net front on the PP when simmer was hurt. Simmonds is a beast at that position but I think you're undervaluing both how good JvR is and how good the flyers PP system is. Like I said, it's a good problem to have but I don't think Simmonds being on pp1 at the netfront is set in stone, and shouldn't be until we can see he's fully healthy. Putting him there while he's still not 100% is a disservice to the team. When he shows the team he's back to the old simmer, I'm sure he will get ample opportunity to take back his spot, if it is even taken from him in the first place |

I don’t think it matters who is on PP1 when you already have G, Ghost and Jake dishing the puck 🤷♂️ It’s been proven anyone who slots in has success. Schenn, Simmer, NoPa... |

Wildly successful? JVR had 11 PP goals last season. Which happens to be the same number of PP goals that an injured and banged up all season Wayne Simmonds scored. To be fair Simmonds had a lot more opportunity time wise on the PP. |

To a point. Couturier who replaced Schenn on the PP last season had 14 PP points compared to Schenn's 28 points the season previously.

Yes, but both Schenn and Couts had “break out” years being in that PP spot rather than comparing their points to one another. Point is, a player will have success given the support players on that unit and our system. |

I agree that a skilled player will have success on the Flyers top PP unit because of Giroux, Gostisbehere and Voracek. However I think Couturier's breakout likely had more to do with playing on the top line with Giroux and having the burden of checking top lines lessened.
