I don't think it's mutually exclusive to have 1 and not the other.
21-MV-17
54-40-12
Play them both about 12 min a night - VladDrag
I don't like the lineup with both them in it though.
Really I just don't like Weal in it if i think the best lineup is this:
Giroux - Couturier - Konecny
JVR - Patrick - Voracek
Lindblom - Vorobyev - Simmonds
Aube-Kubel/Laughton - Lauhgton/Lehtara - Raffl
Maybe play Weal on the wing in Lindbloms spot if need be. I just don't like a bottom 6 with both Weal and Vorobyev in the middle. |

Nope. Here are the skaters I would put in the opening night lineup before Jori.
28-14-11
25-19-93

21-MV-12
NAK
Twar
Frost
Leier
Rubstov
Lehtera - VladDrag[/quote
Frost is nowhere physically ready for the NHL.... |

Yeah, I also wouldn't have a problem with Vorobyev and Laughton as 3 and 4C's, but to me Weal is one of the best 12 forwards on this team.

Are you looking at it as a center or a winger? That makes a difference. - MJL
Centers ahead of Lehtera: the top 2, Weal, Laughton, Vorobyev
Wings: the top 6, Raffl, Aube-Kubel, Leier
No spot for Jori either way |

Tend to agree. In the top 9.
If your playing him on the 4th line though i don't mind him in the middle with guys like Aube-kubel and Raffl in a speedy physical line |

Confused as to why they won't play Laughton at center even once. He looks much better in the pivot spot than as a winger - bulet13
Are u sure about that? |

I said it before. Dallas had a 4th line I think was Ryan Garbutt - Vern Fiddler - Antoine Roussell. They could all skate. They all were physical. they would chip in some offense but were just a female dog to play against. That is what I want. |

I don't see how he's in the top 9 on the wing, unless you're putting lindblom on the 4th line instead of Laughton. |

No.
And I believe Vorobyev has played every game so far. The 3rd line center spot seems to be a 2 horse race between Weal and Vorobyev.
Keeping Laughton the wing has me thinking Lehtara starts the season as the 4th line center with laughton and Raffl on the wings. - J35Bacher
I believe that they know what they have with Laughton at center. This in my opinion is a test for Vorobyev to see if his game and compete level stays up. Its an indicator to me that he is in the running to make the team. |

I don't think he'll be in the top 9. Just if he is playing there I like him on the wing. |

Probably right. Just don't think they see Laughton as a top 9 center unless Vorobyev and Weal can't handle it.
I feel like he would be the 3rd line center by default...not because he out played the other two. in my opinion. |

You, in a sense. Saying Martel is a different role. Why wouldn't we want a scorer on the fourth line? When you have home ice you try to get your scorers out against a teams fourth, why not put some skill out there. This isn't the 90's, it's time to get ahead of this old school hockey thought and roll four lines with skill. - ClaudeFather
I get what you're saying but that is not the case. I'll use what you said. Would you want Martel out there against another teams top line? Skill is misunderstood. It's not just about skill with the puck. The ability to check, win board battles, manage the puck, play well positionally are also skills that are needed in the NHL. The more players you have that have both those skill and puck skills, the better the team will be. Skill also has to translate to the NHL. I don't believe that Martel's does and I don't think the Flyers think it does either. Martel is not a player that will be considered for a bottom 6 spot in the NHL in my opinion. |

They also have had guys like Vandevelde, Bellemare, Weise, Lehtara on the team. Two are gone already. Lehtara is in last year. I think you'll start seeing a shift there. |

We both know that Lehtera is not in competition with Patrick and Couturier. I bet there is a spot for Lehtera. |

they had those guys because they choose to have them. I will believe it when I see it is all I am saying. while severely overpaid I love the isles 4th line. |

Dude everyone knows Simmer is good. No one is saying he isn't. But he's on the wrong side of 30 and history with power forwards and large contracts after 30 are not kind. I feel like you're always taking comments on Simmonds personally. The GM has to think about what's best for the team, not what's best for Simmonds - bulet13
I don’t care how you feel. You assuming feelings is just that, an assumption. Is JvR not on the wrong side of 30? Simmonds is 30. JvR is one year younger. So what exactly is this Babel suppose to mean? |

Probably because:
A. They are paying him a lot of money
B. They don’t want young players sitting in the press box.
A lot will fall into place once they figure out who the 3C is. I do think there is a good chance one of the vets gets waived, but I think the leading candidate is Weise. |

I don't see A being a factor. Young players can be sent down to the minors. My hope is that Weise gets waived. Not a fan. |

I think that is most logical choice.
I would keep Weal and Lehtara as extras as they can fill in.
Weise and Leier would be waived. I just don't think they bring enough to the NHL team that I can't get from one of my younger players who might have more upside. |
