Probably because:
A. They are paying him a lot of money
B. They don’t want young players sitting in the press box.
A lot will fall into place once they figure out who the 3C is. I do think there is a good chance one of the vets gets waived, but I think the leading candidate is Weise. - BiggE
They waived Read who was making a lot of money. |

Curious as to what it would take to get stone... Maybe something like a first, Rubstov, and stolarz? Maybe throw weal in there as well?

Well Montreal got 2019 2nd rounder, Nick Suzuki, Tomas Tatar for Pacioretty. Would something like that be comparable for Stone? Might have to add something else since Stone is younger.
I don't know what Ottawa would want. I thought they should have got more quality in the EK trade so what do i know. |

I read they did not want to ship Ek east, which limits their options.

Oh i understand about the not sending east part and think that is terrible thinking. For a player like Karlsson you take the best deal even if it means sending him to Toronto. That's a guy that will help acquire the players you need to rebuild a franchise. I am not sure they got that from San Jose. they got picks but really they are probably late round picks. |

I think that is most logical choice.
I would keep Weal and Lehtara as extras as they can fill in.
Weise and Leier would be waived. I just don't think they bring enough to the NHL team that I can't get from one of my younger players who might have more upside. - J35Bacher
Agreed |

A first instead of a second should make up the difference between Suzuki and Rubstov and weal is someone who can play on the big club and stolarz has NHL upside |

Is there a report that Stone wants out of Ott? I had heard that he probably will be traded, but not that he's forcing their hand... What a complete dumpster fire that franchise is. For what they got for Karlsson, I think we could offer them a 2025 2nd, Lehtera and Weise and there's a chance they'd take it. |

Is JvR not on the wrong side of 30? Simmonds is 30. JvR is one year younger. - SuperSchennBros
30 - 1 = 29 so you answered your own question. |

I get what you're saying but that is not the case. I'll use what you said. Would you want Martel out there against another teams top line? Skill is misunderstood. It's not just about skill with the puck. The ability to check, win board battles, manage the puck, play well positionally are also skills that are needed in the NHL. The more players you have that have both those skill and puck skills, the better the team will be. Skill also has to translate to the NHL. I don't believe that Martel's does and I don't think the Flyers think it does either. Martel is not a player that will be considered for a bottom 6 spot in the NHL in my opinion. - MJL
Martel was an example, i understand that there needs to be defensively responsible guys out there but I just hate the roll out Lehtera because he's somewhat responsible and is a veteran excuse. Which has been beat to death on here so, here is to Hak changing his ways...... |

Not in my opinion. In my opinion they made a decision before camp to play Manning.

But again, if they had the cap space, why not carry AMac as the spare. I think saving a few bucks under the cap played into the decision on at least some level. |

Weise is getting more of a run in preseason than Lehtera, plus he has two years left to run on his contract. A contract Hextall signed him to. Lehtera only has one year left on a contract another GM signed him to, like Read last season. |
