Weise is getting more of a run in preseason than Lehtera, plus he has two years left to run on his contract. A contract Hextall signed him to. Lehtera only has one year left on a contract another GM signed him to, like Read last season. - Feanor
I want one of them traded for whatever we can get for them. I am hoping it becomes a Rinaldo-esque magic move. That would be choice.
I don't want either of them playing for either the Flyers or the Phantoms |

Waive Weise to Lehigh.
Weise doesn't want to go to Lehigh.
Weise and Flyers agree to terminate contract so he can look for NHL role else where or Europe.
BOOM. Problem solved. |

Read was waived last year to make room for Leier, so I don't know why anyone would think waiving Lehtera this year to make room for a young forward would be either surprising or a bad move. |

Weise isn't going to give up $4m in guaranteed money just because of a demotion.

I wouldn't be surprised but i think we are fortunate enough where we may have too many vets in Lehigh taking ice away from younger guys. |

It looks like the Phantoms could put one extra veteran in a gameday lineup alongside Conner, McDonald, Brennan, Varone and Knight without going over the AHL veteran limit.
Fortunately, Knight is right at the limit of the 261-320 games bracket, and Carey is nine games shy of 261.
The American Hockey League and the Professional Hockey Players’ Association have the following development rule in place:
Of the 18 skaters (not counting two goaltenders) that teams may dress for a game, at least 13 must be qualified as “development players.” Of those 13, 12 must have played in 260 or fewer professional games (including AHL, NHL and European elite leagues), and one must have played in 320 or fewer professional games. All calculations for development status are based on regular-season totals as of the start of the season.
Phantoms veterans
Conner - 786 pro regular season games (ECHL games don't count)
McDonald - 776
Brennan - 635
Varone - 516
Knight - 320
Carey - 252
Leier - 247
Palmquist - 216 |

But as soon as Jori hits the waiver wire he'll say it was clear Lehtera had nothing more to offer and Hextall has done the right thing for the team. |

I think most of the time it is pretty obvious what the injury is. The idea that it is some sort of advantage to only say upper or lower body injury is just stupid. Seems like the Blackhawks realize that - YuenglingJagr
The only reason to fully disclose injuries is for gambling purposes.
Otherwise, it doesn't matter one way or the other. |

I saw this online today about the Flyers teasing a mascot and I agree with Bill Matz.
Just borrow the Phanatic all winter. Slap a Flyers cap and a jersey on him. Done. It's not like that dude is doing much else. |
