So I guess you wont be counting tonights game against the Nucks if you lose too hey? Convenient to make your record whatever you want it to be. We wont count the prospects game because "there were one or two players on either team that even have a shot of playing a regular shift in the NHL this year" Id say preseason rosters are a lot more NHL ready than rookie games. - Leichs
Well yeah, tonight's game doesn't count. It's still preseason. All that matters tonight is that Rittich doesn't look like poo.
You don't seem to be aware the Flames took their entire expected day one line-up to China. The Flames-Oilers game was literally a rookie game with some useless veterans thrown in to fill out the lineups. The best player the Oilers dressed was Yamamoto, and he's nowhere near a lock to make the team. |

You seem really excited about beating the Stockton Heat. I guess I would be too. It means my team is at least AHL calibre. You guys must really be looking for something to cheer for to care so much about the preseaaon.
90% of the Flames starting roster is in China. You can't argue that. The guys here are PTOs/rookies/Stockton Heat. So no, I don't really count that half of the split squad. - Helios
Haha if it was the flames winning you guys would be coming out with the parade route for the cup celebration. Check out the comments after the rookie games lol. Obviously I know these games don't mean poop, I just love beating the flamers no matter who's wearing the jersey. I bet you could all say the same thing about beating the Oilers. |

Speaking of Peters, I could really go for Peters Drive Inn right about now.

Thanks for the great idea. Sorry you couldn't make it but if you put your nose right up against the screen maybe you could smell it...
By the way, it really was as good as it looks. Burp. |

No one cares about a win against a Chiasson led Oilers team in the preseason.

No, I wouldn't. Because we played a game that doesn't matter against a team that didn't have McDavid or RNH or Draisaitl or really any other NHLer on it. It was basically Stockton vs. Bakersfield playing a game that doesn't count in any way towards the standings. Why would I get worked up over that?
It always nice to see a win, but it's a preseason game with players that are most likely not going to be on the Flames, bar a few standouts. Preseason means absolutely nothing, especially when the vast majority of your expected opening night roster isn't playing. |

Could damn well end up on the roster opening night at the rate he's going. He's looking really good out there. |

Hmm 2 games hey? I guess the 7-4 shlackin at the hands of the Oil doesn't count because you don't want it to. Looks like a 0-2-1 record to me. - Leichs
Not so smart are you? Didn't the Oil lose the first two?
None of this counts but for a team as bad as yours, small victories matter I guess. |

Dube was spectacular. I actually never liked Dube during the world juniors, and thought he was a bit of a bum, but he was really good last night. I thought kylington was mediocre, but Valimaki was a very sound player. All in all, Canucks effort was completely embarrassing. |

Yeah, I'm not seeing it with Kylington.
Dube I agree was meh at the WJ's, but man he was good last night. Some of the plays he made were really good, didn't know he had that kind of skill/vision.

BT has done a pretty good job drafting.
Pettersson going to be in the NHL this year? Kid has mad skills but not sure if he has the size yet to handle 82 games, still looks a little frail. |

EP is pretty much a lock for opening night. He's still really skinny, but I can't see how they keep a kid that talented off of such a bad roster. |

Wearing a letter in the world juniors = irrelevant.
Overall, despite scoring in the finals, I thought he was completely underwhelming. I also thought he gave up more turnovers than both teams combined. Either way, he has clearly grown, cause he was really good last night. |

Not sure I agree that he's suddenly grown into a meh prospect into a very good one. Flames fans were probably getting excited following him last year like Canucks fans were with Lind.
Except Dube can actually skate and handle himself physically against grown men, unlike Lind right now.
People just put too much stock into the WJ's, the same size is small, there's a lack of chemistry, etc. |

Wearing a letter at the world juniors, has forever been a seniority thing. Returning players are almost always gifted a letter. I don't put much stock, if any, into who gets what. Juolevi was the captain one year remember lol. Hodgson wore an A.
Either way. I agree, Dube was the standout during last nights game. I was happy to see Matthew Philips score, I have seen him at the local rank soo many times, its nice to see him rewarded for that hard work. |
