Needs to get up to NHL speed time & space - Nighthawk
Yup, he will get there. 1-2 years in AHL and I bet he’ll make the team and be good. Expecting a good second half of season for comets from him. Then solid year 2 with end of season call ups. Maybe season 3 call ups or make it. He’s got the tools. Foot speed an issue but can fix.

Totally. Lind is such a sick passer. Watched him a lot in Kelowna. Great shot too. Just needs some time to develop in the A. - canucksfan1944
He really needs to get into better shape, not fast or strong enough right now. He has the skills for sure though.
Same with Gadjovich. |

Well if we’re basing this purely on this pre-season so far then Goldy has the leg up for me. Had a good game against a less scrub filled lineup. Leipsic kinda sucked last night.
This was basically a AHL game tonight. - Nucker101
Goldy looks like he's ready to stay. He did play with EP though... something Leipsic would have benefited from in his 1st game.

I liked Dipietro's game tonight. Although he only played 1 period, his compete level and pucktracking were very good. |

I don't know about that. I don't think his game would mesh well with EP as Leipsic has negative structure when he's not dialed in 100% and EP, like a lot of play makers, would seem to blend better with guys that are more predictable and favour their spots. |

i dont completely agree. goldy and ep think the game very similarly. not sure leipsic would get the same results, though his game would surely benefit. |

I really hope he sticks around and gets more than a period. I'd like to get a better look at his movement and efficiency against something that isn't an AHL lineup. |

Leipsic’s best games are when he’s puck dominant so yeah I’d agree that Goldobin is a better fit for EP since he’s more dangerous away from the puck as a scorer.
I was hoping we’d see more of Leipsic’s WHL agitator side, he needs to transform his game if he wants to be a NHL’er. Not skilled enough trying to be puck dominant in the NHL. Goldobin is more naturally skilled than Leipsic. |

That's a fair point, if he can get more into being a wienerly little douchebag it would help his case tremendously.
But a lot of guys are like that in junior and don't do it as a pro when 80% of the league is bigger than you and willing to knock your teeth out. You don't come across that in junior much. |

The longer both Demko and DiPietro stick around at camp, the more pressure to perform, is put on our atrocious goaltending duo.. |

Not really. No chance one of them, let alone both displace the incumbents.
Dipietro sent down after the game. Lucky kid got custom gear for 20 minutes. |

Yeah, DP has no shot this year. He could not allow a goal during the entire pre-season and he'd still get sent down. |

I don't even think there is much hope for Demko until they can find an evacuation plan for Nilsson that isn't "putting him on waivers durr".
Nilsson can suck and also get shelled behind an immobile defence with concrete hands and it doesn't matter. Cannon fodder is a big part of a rebuild.
I'd imagine the team will be more liberal with call ups though when they're out on the east coast. Or at least they should be when they're rolling through Ohio/Penn, all the NY area teams, even down to DC. |

Meh, there’s no immediate pressure. There is a 0.00% chance they pay either guy an NHL wage to play in Utica in favor of either Demko or DiPi at this point. Maybe mid season things change but would you really rather have Demko playing once every 10-15 days than Nilsson? |

Exactly. Throwing any young goalie behind this defense is trial by fire. I do think Demko is ready for some games this year though, but having him play the first half or two-thirds of the season in the AHL isn't the end fo the world. |

Lind, Gaj, the AHL guys. I hope Palmsey gets to play a pre season game with actual NHL talent, just to see. |

I only suggested for the pre-season, anyways too late for that as DiPietro sent down.
