Just looking at last nights lineup, that's as much of a lunch bucket group they can throw out there, not really surprised by the score.
Hopefully Horvat, Boeser and Pettersson are in tonight! - LeftCoaster
Won’t make that much of a difference. |

The flames didn't have a single NHL roster player play last night tho - Codes1087
Technically only ones we had were Sutter and Edler.
And they looked meh. |

Sutter, Edler, Gudbranson, Pouliot, Gaunce (guys with 100 games)
I think the flames had one or two games who have played a few games for the flames. One being that Mangiapane guy. The rest were Junior/AHL/PTO guys.

Did you see Calgary's line up? I didn't know 3/4 of the players. I had to look a couple up on HockeyDB... |

if the canucks played the whole game, like they played the final 8 minutes, I think it would have been a much better/more exciting game. Effort from the Canucks was awful last night. |

Waaaaaaa.
Having Wacey and Carter in an NHL preseason game is one nice thing the organization does for these guys. It’s how you can attract quality AHL players to your affiliate team. Seriously, you sound like me tonight. - 1970vintage

just so we are on the same page. Granlund is a keeper, but Tanev is not? - Codes1087
Yes. Tanev should be traded for someone who can actually play a full season at least once in 3 years. And hit the net with a shot every now and again. |

I'd like to see Crosby do that against that type of roster.
Pettersson Horvat Boeser Goldobin Baertschi Sutter Roussel Beagle Gaunce granlund
Gagner Schaller Eriksson Jake
(14)
Edler Pouliot Tanev Gudbrandson Stecher OJ MDZ
(7)
Markstrom
Nielson
Look to trade Nielsen, granlund, mdz, edler, hutton and gagner.
Bring up sautner, biega, gaudette, liepsic, motte and demko as necessary while protecting waiver players.
This is what I think will happen. Although I have a feeling the 3 million dollar gaunce clone could take his job. |

I would agree that trading Tanev is definitely a move I would like the Canucks to do, but I don't think you give Tanev the credit he deserves, considering he probably holds the most value out of any player on the team not named Horvat/Boeser/Petterson |

Like I said 'Technically'. Guddy will be hurt soon and Pouliot and Gaunce are most likely Utica bound and really shouldn't be considered 'roster' guys

Sid's 5'11 and 200+lbs. He's also the best player in the world, 31 and doesn't need to find a poopheel niche to improve his chances of making the roster. Little bit of a different situation. |

I thought last night was pretty embarrassing. I know its pre-season, so it counts for nothing, but Demko was the only reason the score wasn't 8-0 (probably would have been if Nilson was in net). I thought the effort was poor from top to bottom. I also would love to trade Sutter now. Horvat / Petterson / Beagle / Gaudette down the middle makes so much more sense. I know Sutter is good defensively, but it makes sense to trade him while he still has value. |

Ya agree on pretty much all counts. As I posted before outside of Lipstick, Boocher and Gaudette last nights game was pretty meh. Same old stuff from Sutter and Edler with no real jump to their game. Demko had a few gaffes but overall made some great saves. Playing behind our D will be tough for any goalie...especially with Hutton and Stech out there lol.
Flames looked fast and hungry like AHL players should who are trying to move up the roster. |

As much as Green says everyone is competing for their spot, the veterans know the score. Work hard enough not to get called out, but don’t risk injury to some hungry young scrub on the other team. The rookies also know they have very little chance, and for many of them it is their first taste of pro hockey camp. Other than a couple spots on forward Green already knows what his opening night roster will look like. Half the fan base will be complaining about one thing, the other half will be complaining about the other thing. |
