ullmark was a minute eater for rochester, and their D was worse then ours, which is telling

I think it's a 50/50 split, which IMO is a good thing in a cap era

- homiedclown

I think he will be very streaky. He has looked good in stretches but also puts up some stinkers.

I agree in the cap era thing. I hated giving Miller a bunch of money. I feel like you spend the money on d and the goalie gets better

how many back up goalies looked decent with the bruins d, preds d, or the blues d

it's easily the way to go when you don't have a stud net minder

I am curious about oglivie (spell). He seems to have a decent number of points this preseason. I know he is ahl bound but does he have a shot at being a decent pick up? I haven’t seen the tape

4/29/2013 ...
...
Since then, hundreds of times I’ve told you all “I think we’re going to be good.” I am a fan, and I won’t let myself think anything else. But in the back of my head, most of the time, I knew it was really just “hope we’re going to be good,” and my mentality wasn’t that we WILL win games, rather that we MIGHT.
...
And I’m done suffering. We should all be done suffering.

I’m as excited about this team as I have been since long before 4/23/13. And for the first time in 5 or 6 or 7 years - before we traded away Pommer and Miller and Vanek and Gaustad, and let Briere and Drury get away .... after having sat through Ville (frank)ing Leino, Ron Rolston, and a long long LONG list of bland non-heroes I won’t even bother to name, this year We all know we have genuinely turned the corner.

Nothing wrong with being an optimist, and being balanced with reality...live on!

I am more of a realist, but root every game for the team to win (well, except the Tank Year).
I have coined this season as "The Transition Year" as I too believe the Sabres have turned the corner.
That said, and I believe the majority of the poster feel the same way, that there will be steps forward and steps backwards. To me, these are the fun seasons, watching that transition of the team, and of individual players.
Depends on your definition of what Good means, but I think they will be much better...a bubble team and think 90 pts +/- is a decent target for them.

I am very much looking forward to watching them this year and seeing the development, watching for the good things to happen...rather than the focus being on the mistakes.

I agree ... Let's go Go Buffalo

He is such a stealth threat, I forgot about him! I agree to swap him with Smith.

If Sheary is hurt then have Smith fill in.

4/29/2013 ...

Five and a half years ago.

That’s when Darcy told us that the vision would require some “suffering.” And by that time, we had already been mediocre for 3 or 4 years.

I know it’s only preseason. But it’s the (frank)ING LEAFS. Our A’s against theirs on our home ice.

And we have the mother(frank)ing leafs in our barn. And we have Jack, and Skinner, and Sam, and Rasmus, and Rasmus, and McCabe, and Connor, and Hutton, and when the season really goes, we’ll add Casey and Tage.

LETS GO BUFFALO! LETS GO BUFFALO! LETS GO BUFFALO! LETS GO BUFFALO!

I think we’re going to be good.

I nominate this as post-of-the-month, maybe the year. Well said sir!

Guys, remember. Thompson is a “C” prospect and Nylander blows.

Even Girgensons has looked like an all-star in previous preseasons. When Nylander shows it in regular season I’ll be happy. Thompson suffered from recency bias. Everyone wanted the shiny new toy like Thomas (never gonna get him) or Kyrou but Thompson was a 2016 first rounder with good skills. Never understood the hate for that trade.

I am not fully sold on Nylander, but he looks a little different to me.

We got better in the O’Reilly trade

That’s because he was an all star:

Nylander and Thompson earned a shot

lol...Thompson has a great shot and can get it off, Olofsson has an amazing shot and can't get it off. That's my biggest lesson from last night.

Guhle and Asplund should start in Rochester, so things are starting to clear up. Thompson, Nylander, Bailey, and Baptiste battling for that final spot or two. I think Thompson has been the best, just slightly over Nylander.

Who Olofsson was playing against surely factored into that at least a little bit, no?

That said, he's still a late round pick and any impact he does make at the NHL level is a bonus.
