Your fellow media cronies and a handful of loonie fans are the ones writing all the sensationalized BS; you can't paint everyone with the same brush. - gravyface
I said it earlier in the offseason, Dermott could find himself in the AHL at some point. Sophomore slumps are a female dog.
I'd take Holl over Ozighanov. Holl has earned a shot, Ozighanov needs to earn his with time in the AHL. Rosen can skate but as a bottom pairing, probably better off with Borgman's physicality. - Unholy_Goalie
Never understood why you would take physicality over skill on the bottom pairing. Playing against the other teams dregs instead of being hemmed in your own zone with some physical meathead crosschecking guys in the slot and screening his own goalie, wouldn’t it be better to have some skill and speed that can get to the puck first and get it down the ice to hem their fourth line in the other zone???

Because it's about having different players who bring different skills. You can't have 6 of the exact same defender unless they're all Doughty's but the only reason that'd be alright is because Doughty literally does everything. The Leafs do not have a single all around great defender. Not a single one. Every guy on the blueline excels at one thing and sucks at another.
That being said, yes, you need a Borgman in the line-up. You can't be considered a push over team. The Leafs lost Komarov, Martin and Polak. That's over 500 hits they lost that I don't see them replacing. Hitting does still matter. It is still hockey. Does that mean I want a guy who only smashes people? No. But if a guy like Borgman can play, he should because he can do everything else reasonably well but he excels at laying the body.

He was right about some things and wrong about others.
He was right about how a large number of Leafs fans get ahead of themselves very often. He's also right that the Leafs defense is a huge problem and relatively unimproved. And that defense is most likely going to get worse after this year too when Gardiner / Hainsey are done or overpaid to stay. He was also right that Andersen is overworked, relied upon too much and not helped enough.
What he was wrong about though was the idea that the 1970s and 80s have anything to do with current management or team. Also incorrect that the Leafs will not win a playoff series. There's a good chance they can finish 2nd (behind Tampa Bay) and with Tavares, they can beat Boston. There's good reason to believe that. But after that, their odds go drastically down because of the defense.

What the hell do we care what that moron says? (frank) me he sounded like a clueless (frank) in this. The irony of him, just missing a big red wig and oversized shoes, a joke is priceless. There is a reason no one watches that poop show.
