Can we just marvel at the fact that this preseason has been a discussion of bottom 6 and 3rd pairing options?

Man, the future is getting bright.

Forwards, yes.

Defense, it's both pairs after the god tier 1st pair. That's the bigger issue. There's no way in hell Sanheim-Gudas/MacDonald-Myers is not better than MacDonald-Gudas/Hagg-Sanheim. It's all terribly predictable, however, and sure to impede.

Don't worry, at some point hopefully we'll get a coach in here who knows and understands the basics of hockey. Who knows what the fans know.

I always do. The true experts are here on Hockeybuzz. This is the pool of people that Hextall should draw from when he finally decides to fire that clown Hakstol and hire a real coach.

What we need is an NHL coach with a true offensive system and not a system built around point shots. A coach who knows how to access the internet and analytic websites. That's what we need.

Not answering my hang out request is just plain rude. So, hockeyal and I are going bowling. Just between us guys, hockeyal uses the bumpers.

Id even be okay with Hägg in there with someone as long as Myers stayed. Give him some sergachev style sheltering to start and enjoy the ride

In Lehigh Valley but don't worry we still have Haag to pick on.

I’m not a Hagg hater. Hopefully he improves. Young enough to do so hopefully.

I don't think it's unfair to question the coaching staff with decisions they make. While they clearly know more than us it's unfair to say we are not allowed to question their decisions and have a different opinion. While the coach can't exactly control what players do on the ice, he can put the team in the best position to succeed and it's totally okay to disagree with the coach.

To the point of system, I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to realize that high danger scoring chances lead to more goals and unscreened point shots don't lead to those. Now whether that is how hakstol truly wants to play or if he's just implementing that system because of the defenders we used to have will be shown this year where we could potentially see a full year of Sanheim and some of Myers, both of whom are adept in the O zone

Isles beat Rags last night 5-2. When all 3 NY area teams miss the playoffs this season, I will be very happy.

Laughton has proven to be a good 3rd or 4th line center or winger. Just like the guy said. The only knock on him is that he hasn’t developed as big of an offensive game as thought when he was drafted. Although he was looking better last season and has looked even better this preseason.
- NC Flyers Fan

he owns most of it but he was never considered a guy who could carry a line. As a newer player to be more productive in the point area he would need good linemates, you can make a case this would be the first year he will really have the linemates where he should put up more points. I am looking forward to Laughton getting good linemates and a full year of opportunity. That last part is important, he should have the confidence of the coach now.

by the way the same goes for HAk in a way, this is the year more should be expected of him

Two big articles about the Flyers in the Inqy today. Hockey must be getting close. They’re doing a three part interview with the coach. Apparently coach and his family have decided it’s time to let down his guard and let Philly get to know him. After the first article all I know is that he bought a boat. There’s a better article about Dave Scott. It’s a little off putting that he has no background in hockey or pro sports at all, but he has made an effort in this article to convince me that he’s a killer businessman determined to win. Hopefully he’s determined to win the cup and not just financially.
