It's a good start no doubt but gotta wonder when they'll get a chance to play with the team handing out 4 year extensions to 29 year olds

Byron is easy to move, if need be. Most of the prospects are not ready to step in right away anyway.

Easy to move he is but I think the team signing him to that extension shows he isn't moving

It's not exactly young if you're in the early stages of a rebuild, especially if that player could of brought back an interesting asset

You always need good veterans when bringing up young players.

Otherwise, you become the Oilers.

Byron fits the bill imo.

yeah, when the time comes Habs have enough kids to fill the top 3 lines and Byron becomes a 4th liner..... his contract will be over

A lot of players can fill that role... What do you think a team up against the cap would of paid for a 20 goal winger with unbelievable speed and kills penalties for 1.1 million at the deadline?

If you trade every player worth something, you end up asking Jordie Benn to teach your kids how to be a professional.

I'm fine with keeping Byron, I'm sure he'll be worth a very similar price in 4 years anyway.

PAtches has no value since he's a UFA at the end of the year.

Byron HAS SH!TLOADS of value since he\s a 20 goal scorer and a UFA at the end of the year...

exactly how many of these kids do you expect to become top6 nhlers?

lekhonen, who we all love, is 23 y/o, and we're still not sure if he's a 3rd or 2nd liner.

I'm hoping the 2 C... Which would push Domi back to the wing along with Drouin and Gallagher... Lekhonen, Danault, Scherbak, Poehling and Hudon could be in the top 9 conversation also! Just don't see a need to keep Byron for 5 years, nothing against the player, I just think the right call was to gain an asset and clear up a spot
