You see how mixing sports and politics is a no win situation?
Btw, there are these ppl called inspectors that work for the city and inspect that buildings are built to code. Why does this come up now? I am not picking on you or Ultimate btw, but why didn't this become an issue long ago??
And, I believe it is all about being Jewish. I have lived in this town too long to know exactly what the sentiment is in the upper echelons of particularly City government.
Pete wanted this conversation so why he went down this rabbit hole is beyond me. - CharlieDog
Who is Jewish ? Chipmans are definitely not. |

I can also attest to that. Definitely not Jewish. Nonetheless, let's move back into hockey discussions.

It's strange how close to the surface our personal predjudices and suspicions are. Hockey and the Jets are usually one of those things that unite us by providing young and old, rich and poor, different race/religions something we can share. I don't mind some brushes with real life stuff in the forum when it is kept civil - but as Jetsnation says it has to keep moving back to hockey discussions.

An upside of the six games in eight days pre-season schedule is that the Jets will have opportunity for their Moose and bubble players to have multiple opportunities vs teams with rosters more filled with NHL talent. Other teams have sent their prospects to AHL/Junior/European teams while the Jets need the numbers around to fill the demand of the games. Our guys will get a truer test of abiliity with prospects vs best. We fans will get a better look at what each brings to the table because of this condensed, back loaded schedule. |

On that note I'll change the topic and make a case for my favorite Jet, Mark Schiefele to win the Hart Trophy this year. Some might argue that if the Jets get to the final dance that it might be Capt'n Wheeler who gets the nod. But with Scheif, I don't think I've seen a player in quite a while that has such influence on his player partners when it comes to fitness, diet, commitment, workout regimens, being a student of the game, etc. Even Wheeler drank the Scheif koolade this summer. Laine and others commenting on his influence on their diet and levels of fitness. Oates coming in and teaching stickhandling on Scheif's request. Furthermore, he has demonstrated to be a real gentleman both on and off the ice which is rare for someone still as young as him. I expect a huge season from Schief and I think my prediction of a Hart may sound far-fetched now but in the second half of the season, I believe it will be regular talk.

I am taking Scheifele first in my draft this year, even over McDavid if I get that chance. He has definitely blossomed into one of the best, if not the the best centers in the league. |

Sure you can, please PM me you e-mail address and I will get our league administrator to send you an e-mail invite. The draft is $60.00 in case you were wondering about cost. |

Chipper's heart bled purple/crimson when he was a Crusader and as a citizen of Winnipeg he bleeds the hometown blood. He has done more for downtown Winnipeg than just about anybody so this hit piece is out of line. A businessman is also allowed to make money . He took the risks with both the Jets , his development, and building the arena downtown instead of at a cheaper location.
If you want affordable housing then move to Transcona. - jetsnation

Sorry fellas was driving to Regina today for work so missed all the debates. My two cents on Chipmans is, I love what they’ve done. If they are doing something illegal or against the rules then if someone is passionate enough they can take issue and legal action to correct it. This was proven with the Birchwood Auto Group (owned by Chipmans) used to automatically charge a tire tax on every new vehicle sold, this was proved to a completely bogus tax that went straight into their pockets and once someone passionate enough took issue, it was removed but hey if you’re not cheating, you’re not trying.
After further thought I’m also now convinced Jetsnation got his ass handed to him 30 years ago by someone from Transcona and hence why he took the pot shot at Scona. I’m guessing jetsnation is possibly a St. Paul’s/charleswood/ravenscourt kid??? Am I right? No worries jetsnation, you weren’t the first and won’t be the last, we are just built a little tougher in Scona than you 😜 |

My apologies. I did not say it as some shot at Transcona. I don't even live in Winnipeg anymore and moved away quite some time ago. I just was using an example where I thought housing prices were still affordable. I might have used Garden City, St. Norbert , or some other example where it might still be true. Transcona just came to my mind first. St. Pauls' is correct , however that school had students from all over Winnipeg and lots of parents who put education first over anything so myself and my friends are from all over the city . Many of my friends were from E. Kildonan as well as River Heights. Some from Chareswood and Tuxedo also. As for Transcona, there was a bar and alos a drive-in theatre that we went to a lot. Can't remember the name of the bar though.
Back to hockey ..... |

It’s all good, I was just having fun. Transcona s are a proud bunch and quick to react, I actually live in NK now.
I guessed St. Paul’s because I think we have a mutual friend, last name Rowan?
The drive inn was starlite, and I’m guessing the bar was the Pandora, Princess or a royal George.

I don’t wanna be the “sky is falling” guy, and I know it’s only the preseason, but Trouba and Poolman are playing like Richards. They don’t have have the offside excuse like Myers, or the Myers excuse like Byfuglien |

First goal wasn’t on Poolman, whole line before had a horrible change that screwed the bunch coming on. But yes, Trouba has looked horrible |

No he’s signed, everyone knows the trade will happen next summer, unless of course someone makes an offer that can’t be refused and doesn’t hurt our chances this year. |

I wasn’t referring to that play in particular, that’s a coaching error. He’s rocking a sub-40% corsi thus far |

You have a weird train of thought. It’s like the train is a giant caterpillar, and the track is a trail of rose petals that definitely leads to one of two rooms, and the train horn is just a loop of Nic Cage yelling “THE BEES”, and oh what the f*ck am I even talking about |

While Dano and Vesalainen are clawing their way to that 3RW slot, Niku has kicked the 2LD door of it’s damn hinges |

Yes. Niku having a great game tonight and put himself right back into consideration for a third pairing. Morrissey, Ehlers, Chariot, and Tanev all looking very good as well. Chariot looks like he shed a little weight as well.
As for Dano, I'm trying to be positive here when I watch him, but I just see no difference between Dano and about a dozen other rookies the Jets have playing in these exhibitions games, Guys like Everberg, Suess, Lemieux, Vesalainen, Lipon, all have looked better than Dano in pre-season so far. If it wasn't for the waivers thing I don't think there is any chance he would make the cut. After two periods, his only good shift this game was right at the end of the second period. That's despite playing PP and PK. And finally, you would have to be absolutely blind to keep saying that Dano is better than Tanev. There no argument left there at all.
Jets gap control was horrific in the first but Maurice must have said something because it really tightened up in the second. Night and day.
Maganipane and Dube look very good on the Flames. |

Ehlers - Roslovic looking like a possible regular pairing for the regular season. |

Both Myers and Niku have offensive skills but have severe problems in our end. Why do you give him a free pass in our end? He got pushed off the puck and had giveaways in our end all night. He needs to start on the moose, play a ton of minutes and focus primarily on his defensive zone play. This is absolute best plan for him. |

Love Nic Cage, BTW. |
