While Dano and Vesalainen are clawing their way to that 3RW slot, Niku has kicked the 2LD door of it’s damn hinges

Also, Vesalainen has never played RW, he is only a LW. Lemieux had another strong game as well, like it or not. Stayed out the box to, not like some.........Dano

Jets win in OT.

Ehlers - Roslovic looking like a possible regular pairing for the regular season.

Roslovic just needs time at Center, he is overly concerned with his defensive duties and it’s affecting his over all game. Tonight was better though and I have full confidence he continues to improve at Center!!!

I have to admit, Tanev has looked better this pre season. That line is not going anywhere.

Both Myers and Niku have offensive skills but have severe problems in our end. Why do you give him a free pass in our end? He got pushed off the puck and had giveaways in our end all night. He needs to start on the moose, play a ton of minutes and focus primarily on his defensive zone play. This is absolute best plan for him.

I also agree that Niku had his share of defensive mistakes last night. Nonetheless, the Jets have a plethora of depth at D right now, much more than I would have thought one year ago. It will make the loss of Trouba in a year much more palatable.

It's Poolman and Morrow battling it out for that last spot on D with Niku still in the conversation but still unlikely. I'm pretty sure Chariot makes the team.

Because he’s better. He doesn’t make anywhere near as many mistakes as Myers, Kulikov, Morrow, or Chiarot, and they all get in without his offensive punch.

No. No, it doesn’t. Trouba is our #1. Byfuglien can cliff dive at any time, Myers can’t carry a top 4 job, and nobody but Niku in the organization is close to being top 4 right now.

Niku still needs work on the defensive side of the game which is important because he is a DEFENSEMAN. At least another half season on the Moose with the occasional call-up. More likely one more full season in AHL. He is most certainly not a top 4. He will be one day. Right now you have blinders on.

Right now I'd rank Buff and Morrissey ahead of Trouba. Trouba has not looked great in pre-season although did look better ion the back half of the game last night. Morrissey has outshone him so far though. Myers still remains top four although he's much better on the right side which remains problematic. Maybe you forget how outstanding he was in last years playoffs. Even his biggest critics were giving praise.

Niku needs a bit of work on the defensive side of things, but he’s still ahead of his competition. It helps that Buff can carry anyone.

I’m not as worried about Trouba as I make it sound. Preseason means nothing, and he turned it around right after I made that comment. His numbers still have him well above Buff and JoMo, but Mr. Morrissey is chasing him down.

Myers has not been top 4 material since 14-15. Injuries and overexposure have dragged him down. He did impress me in the playoffs, even if he struggled mightily on the PK, but one flash of comparative brilliance doesn’t change my opinion.
