Per Ben Kuzma, here are today's cuts:
Chatfield/Dahlen/Palmu/Brisebois
All waiver exempt. That gets us down to 29 healthy players - or maybe 30. Apparently Eriksson is practicing.
So, four or five forwards left to cut. The D is down to nine - last year's guys + Juolevi. - Carol Schram
Who would the 5 left forwards to be cut? |

Gagner practicing on the 2nd PP today - manvanfan
Give him 2nd unit PP time and play him on a line at 5v5 with guys who aren't small/weak. He seems to suck the most at 5v5 when paired with smaller/weaker players. |

Depends on the IR situation with Eriksson/Roussel.
Roussel still not even being on the ice makes me think he had a pretty severe concussion which sucks. Even when he's back to staking, he'll need time to get back into shape. |

I'm going to list 'em alphabetically in an attempt to avoid bias.
The 18 forwards remaining - not counting Roussel:
Archibald
Baertschi
Beagle
Boeser
Boucher
Eriksson
Gagner
Gaudette
Gaunce
Goldobin
Granlund
Horvat
Leipsic
Motte
Pettersson
Schaller
Sutter
Virtanen
Out of that group, I believe only Gaudette and Motte are waiver exempt.
(And...as Reubenkincade points out...Boeser & Pettersson are also waiver exempt!) |

Its not what i want, or what i would do, but i believe gaudette and motte will go to utica due to being waiver exempt, leaving 3 forwards. I also imagine boucher/gaunce/archibald get put on waivers.

There lies a problem with the Vancouver Canucks and TG system. Last year he used Sutter to shutdown the opposition. This year he plans on using Sutter and Beagle. Normally those would be the 3-4 line centers on most teams and getting easier match ups. Gagner being defensive liability needs limited easy minutes. The many soft top 6 forwards van still has. Unless the lines are going to be in a blender from minutes one of every game specialized to Gagner. This team doesn't have a spot for Gagner to succeed. |

You're probably right. I'm pretty curious about the whole Sutter/Beagle thing as well |

That looks about right to me. That's probably the most low-risk option.
I think something pretty dramatic would have to happen this week to cause another outcome.

This Tour Champion is some awesome TV golf Carol, are you watching?
Pettersson, Boeser and Horvat will keep things entertaining for those of us who love to see the kids grow their game but it's GLARINGLY apparent this team is still years away from being competitive. - LeftCoaster
2020 is the earliest. At least 2 seasons of patience & developing is ahead for us. |

The 4th to Utica is a TG decision. He also might like Gaunce & find another drop. JB & he will work it out. |

Well we didn’t get here overnight & nobody probably didn’t see it coming. Many teams seem ahead of us that are no different in reality. Each new season brings opportunity |
