I don’t want to rush the kid either, but if he keeps playing well against NHL competition, are you rushing him?

Yea, Elliott actually look 45 on ice and off.

I don't think it is the end of the world to bring him up as the "backup". My wording would be that with the injuries, he is being given a spot until Neuvy and Lyon heal up with the unspoken condition that if he significantly outperforms Elliot, he sticks with the team and they make room in the AHL for the others. If Hart struggles,, he goes down after that period of time and it isn't a "demotion" persay.

Pretty much how I see it. Hextall has always said that roster spots have to be earned. Well, at this point in preseason, it’s pretty hard to argue that Hart, and for that matter Vorobyev and Myers, have earned their spots.

I expect the latter two to make the team.

Without a doubt. I think Hart has at least gone from slim to none, which were his chances at the start of camp, to at least 50-50 now.

Here’s how I see it at this point: Elliott, unless he physically can’t go, will be one of our goalies. He’s earned it as a long time NHL vet. Stolarz has only played about 4-5 games that matter in over a year. I just can’t see him playing NHL quality goal right now. He’s the rustiest goalie on the roster and could benefit the most from a consistent workload at the AHL level. That leaves Hart, the guy who has played extremely well so far. He may not be here by Halloween (or he may be their #1) but he, at the very least, needs to be fairly considered to be the Flyers opening night goaltender

My thing is this, whenever they do play Hart - I want him to not be toyed with. If he has a rough outing, I want right back out for the next game. I dont trust Hak to do that at this point and time with so many "choices".

Preseason is meaningless.

The only important question tonight is: how does Gritty look?

god why is lehtera and weise still playing
- 2Real

Right? What's brutal is Lehtera will most assuredly be fourth line center for 75 games this year.

For Weise I just think they are giving him every chance to try and show something. I think they are pretty close to knowing what the roster will look like for October 4.
- J35Bacher

By "show something" you mean for a possible trade, or justify beyond a shadow of a doubt that he'll be at Lehigh?

Have to believe Lehtera and Weise playing for their lives tonight.
- cdearth23

While I would love for this to be true, Lehtera is here all year...book it. Hak is enthralled by the "veteran presence."
