We're losing to a basically AHL team
- bulet13

Both clubs have had chances.

That MacDonald/Folin pairing has had a really poor night, Mac in particular.

That Bruins goaltender is outplaying Elliot by a mile. Thats the difference imo.

As others have said, this “competition” for spots thing is mostly just a charade.

Lehterä has an inside track to be the 4C and will undoubtedly start most games ala VDV from yesteryear.

It’s simply a nutless monkey coaching manuever.

Without a doubt. I think Hart has at least gone from slim to none, which were his chances at the start of camp, to at least 50-50 now.

Here’s how I see it at this point: Elliott, unless he physically can’t go, will be one of our goalies. He’s earned it as a long time NHL vet. Stolarz has only played about 4-5 games that matter in over a year. I just can’t see him playing NHL quality goal right now. He’s the rustiest goalie on the roster and could benefit the most from a consistent workload at the AHL level. That leaves Hart, the guy who has played extremely well so far. He may not be here by Halloween (or he may be their #1) but he, at the very least, needs to be fairly considered to be the Flyers opening night goaltender

I think Hextall will only keep Hart if he is forced to by any number of situations. May very well come to that.

Right? What's brutal is Lehtera will most assuredly be fourth line center for 75 games this year.
- Brad Marsh Fan

Lehtera played 62 games last season and if I remember correctly, started last season as a healthy scratch.

While I would love for this to be true, Lehtera is here all year...book it. Hak is enthralled by the "veteran presence."
- Brad Marsh Fan

Every coach relies on veteran presence to some extent but basically that is a false narrative about Hakstol.

I can understand how the introduction of Gritty could be overwelming for the players.

It’s an emotional night. Course Gritty is like 7 ft tall and has a lot of gut to shoot at. Who cares if he can’t stay on his feet? Net is nice and covered.

The Flyers created Gritty the mascot so their beloved gritty veterans with leadership can still have a job after they've failed long enough on the ice (VDV, Lehtera, Weise) or as a coach (Lappy).

Prove me wrong.
