I think you are going to be disapointed by the number of goals scored by the shutdown/PK guys.
- 1970vintage

Yes, I would think that the over under for all the of our new 4th line additions to be around what gaunce brought last year, 5 goals. 2 out of three might break that but won't score over 7.

FA dad is not in great shape and he wants him to enjoy watching his team. Can't blame hom for trying to do things fast so his dad doesn't die watching a horrible team, unfortunately because of this his dad might die watching a horrible team.
- Pres.cup

well.... i have no idea if any of this is true but even if it is, yes, you can blame him.

if he and/or his dad are the die hard fans that you paint, they have been fans long enough to know that there are no short cuts.

anybody who thought critically knew that 'retool on the fly' was a recipe for disaster. his dad should beat him with a shoe for prolonging his misery!

This is the last chance for some of them this pre-season since the last pre-season games are typically a warm up game for the entire opening night roster.

I expect a better effort tonight, even if they’re outmatched in talent. I don’t think that’s too much to ask for.

(I apologize in advance for this freakout post)

Yeah, I’m not really sure what type of reaction people are expecting from this fanbase. I think most of the serious comments have been pretty tame.
- Nucker101

I think people are reading way too much into meaningless hockey games. Hence my freak out comments. Did anyone thing the the team would look good missing our top regulars some games? We have no scoring depth so of course they are getting shredded.

Jakob Markstrom, Derrick Pouliot and Travis Green all represented at the AHL all star game, what does that have to do with Martel? He has never managed even 1.0 ppg in the AHL, and has 4 games of NHL experience. Tampa clearly thinks they need some depth, and I bet there are other teams that would gladly upgrade their 4th line for free. How about the Caps, they lost their all star 4th line C, maybe they are in the market for a guy like Granlund...
- 1970vintage

My point is that he isnt worse than Gaunce or Archibald - keep up.

Youre the one who said lesser players have been claimed on waivers this preseason. I was refuting it - not that hard man....

Show me an example this preseason - I'll give you 1, the ONLY waiver claim this preseason - Danick Martel - you think Gaunce or Archibald are better? The guy was an AHL Allstar last year - hes in the mould of Boucher and aint nobody wanted Boucher.

Further to that, nobody is touching Granlund with that contract - seriously.....

- chompsey

Yes, both gaunce and Archibald are better 4th line players. Gaunce put up almost a point a game in the AHL, he'll never score more then 15 in the nhl. Boucher is a great AHL player and a horrible NHL player. Pears and onions dude, not comparable.

I’m okay with losing, but where’s the urgency from the guys playing for their NHL lives? That’s what people are disappointed in.

Outside of Motte, most bubble guys have had 1 standout game max, some haven’t had any.

You can say what you want but I know you’re disappointed too.

It’s just realistic. There could have been more standouts. EP has delivered, OJ looks promising but not much positives beyond that
- neem55

Like Codes said I think most on here know where we're at. But reserving total judgement maybe after 10-15 games into the reg season would be a touch more prudent. We haven't even come close to seeing the 'final' roster play together as a team for even one game. Way too many in here focusing on pre-season 'results' with their predictions for the reg season lol. Let's give it a bit of time.

We are going to be brutal this year but I think the product will be slightly more exciting with Pettersson on the team. I couldn’t handle watching another season of the Sedins. Next year we should be decent when Hughes on board. hopefully two Hughes and playoffs 😍😍

What do you think is enough for a Leipsic or a Gaunce or a Granlund to grab that spot? Try hard? Hustle? Do they need to score a goal, or get in a fight? Honestly, I don't think it matters now, I think Green already knows what he wants.

Sure, I’m disappointed in OJ and virtanen for sure. I had no hope for most of the bubble guys so it didn’t bother me. The vets not showing up doesn’t bother me. If I had a spot guaranteed I wouldnt try either. Stay healthy

An effort level similar to Motte is what I’m asking. Not demanding goals or fights or a big hit. Just show how badly you want a spot.

The whole point of having a crowded roster full of scrubs was to create internal competition.

Maybe just loading up on picks and drafting/developing your own depth is the best way to create competition instead of hoarding scraps was a better strategy?

Lol

Speaking of scraps, would anyone pick Shink off of waivers and put granlund on waivers?
Would Calgary claim him?

I think this camp has shown us why some of these scraps Benning acquired were let go by their former teams. They probably got outplayed/outworked by bubble players on their previous teams.

That’s why they were available in the first place.
