Yes, both gaunce and Archibald are better 4th line players. Gaunce put up almost a point a game in the AHL, he'll never score more then 15 in the nhl. Boucher is a great AHL player and a horrible NHL player. Pears and onions dude, not comparable. - Pres.cup
Wasnt talking about 4TH line players, just players in general. But sure, pears and onions.
Point being, a handful of players get picked off of waivers this time and year and those 3 ass-clowns wont be........and should they? GREAT! Opportunities for guys like Lind, Dahlen etc....

well.... i have no idea if any of this is true but even if it is, yes, you can blame him.
if he and/or his dad are the die hard fans that you paint, they have been fans long enough to know that there are no short cuts.
anybody who thought critically knew that 'retool on the fly' was a recipe for disaster. his dad should beat him with a shoe for prolonging his misery! - RealityChecker
I've heard it from several sources.
It's why he wouldn't go for a slow rebuild and tried to accelerate it.
His dad should beat him with a shoe but if my dad was not gonna be around for long I'd try my hardest to get into the dance while he was still with me. |

An effort level similar to Motte is what I’m asking. Not demanding goals or fights or a big hit. Just show how badly you want a spot.
The whole point of having a crowded roster full of scrubs was to create internal competition.
Maybe just loading up on picks and drafting/developing your own depth is the best way to create competition instead of hoarding scraps was a better strategy? - Nucker101
I would like to have seen that same hustle and drive from the vets too, like there was actually some competition. |

Lol
Speaking of scraps, would anyone pick Shink off of waivers and put granlund on waivers?
Would Calgary claim him? - Pres.cup
claiming anyone off of waivers would require them to be better than not only Gaunce/Granlund/Archibald, but would also require another roster player to either be waived/sent to Utica. I don't think the Canucks place any waiver claims before season starts. |

If Motte, Archibald and Gaunce go down , archie clears, gaunce doesn't.
A team like Washington, Tampa or toronto would claim gaunce in a heat beat. Great option as a 13th forward. Doesn't cost anything, can play center or wing. Can kill penalties and isn't a liability. Poor man's beagle at a poor man's price |

it's not about intention, it's about the critical ability to assess a situation and find a way forward.
anyway, he's a good boy who loves his father. they both love their hockey team and wanted a quick turn around. they were both wrong. instead of providing his father entertaining hockey in his twilight, he did the opposite.
nice recap of the last 5 years. good talk. |

I think this camp has shown us why some of these scraps Benning acquired were let go by their former teams. They probably got outplayed/outworked by bubble players on their previous teams.
That’s why they were available in the first place. - Nucker101
This is the rub, hes repeatedly reached for sub-standard players while proclaiming he thinks the team can scratch itself into the playoffs.
They've never had a chance at the playoffs after the first year. They should've been rebuilding thru the entire draft not just the first round, where's it's becoming very apparent he didn't pick very well in 2014 or 2016.
In 2016 they only picked six times including four picks in the last three rounds, 5-6-7-7. When you finish 3rd last in the league, and your draft is set up like that, this is the poop you get. That's not the sign of a rebuilding team! |

I'm calling the send downs.
Gaudette goes down for half a season, a trade should be made to open a spot for him.
Motte goes down because of he plays a game he becomes waiver fodder. First injury call up.
Archibald goes down and is traded for a late pick to a playoff team looking for some depth.
Gaunce stays up until Rousel comes back from injury, depending on how he plays, he or Liepsic get waived and claimed in early December.
OJ goes down until a trade can be made.
If neilsson can be traded demko moves up by the deadline.
Flame on.
Nighthawk could you make a lineup reflecting these changes. |

Just got back from lunch.
Hard pass on Granlund. Decent depth guy but would rather have Czarnick, Mangepane, or Dube instead.

If Benning wouldn't have went after Gudbranson in 2016, he'd have kept his 2nd round pick and they could've drafted Dube in the second round, but who needs skilled players when you can waste picks on a #5 dman....right?
BTW....not directed at you, just a general comment, they could've picked any one of these skilled players, Jordan Kryo, Rasmus Asplund, Alex DeBrincat, Samuel Girad, Carter Hart, Kale Clague, or Taylor Raddysh just to name a few in the second round. |

Ottawa’s scraps would be a new low, even for this team - Nucker101
Gaunce and Leipsic for Smith and a 3rd. We get our 3rd line C, some additional glue and protection for the kids, get rid of some scraps. |
