They need to trade him for a defensive playmaker, be it in the secondary or a new middle linebacker now they Shazier is gone. I’d prefer the secondary because their cornerbacks are so bad at turning their heads to look for the ball/pass.

Last year I pretty much came to the conclusion that we’re not winning another one during the Big Ben era. Shazier almost made our defense good enough to make up for Tomlin and Haley dragging us down, but now that he’s gone, it’s over for us.

Josh Allen might suck, or he might not, but JC, I've never seen so many pundits (I use that term liberally here) so ready to pounce on a prospect in any sport. Everyone is tripping over themselves to be right about him sucking

True. I actually don't hate Burns and Davis but they need to be better. Period. I don't know what they see in Sensabaugh. Burnett is pretty meh too. I like Haden.

Ben is not getting any groove with Antonio Brown right now. In all our team sucks on offense and defende. Just a disfunctional Team.

What's great about this board is when a prospect clearly sucks and the team has moved on, they try to do everything they can to prove they somehow see something special in said prospect and cry about why they got the shaft. Its quite entertaining.

DESPRES wasn't bad imo. He actually got a pretty good deal in Anaheim after he left.

He has to sign the franchise tag with the Steelers to be traded. Even if he does agree to a sign and trade deal, the acquiring team can't extend him either and Bell does not seem interested in risking it. I'm not sure he plays a down of football this season. I could easily see him report for the last 6 games completely out of shape and the Steelers just pay him to sit. I think this is growing more likely by the week.

At best the Steelers will get a 2nd or 3rd if Bell agrees to play for a new team because he's a rental. Apparently an out of shape rental too. The Steelers botched this whole situation. They should have seen it coming.

I really don't understand trades in the NFL. People are saying Bell's top value is a 2nd round pick. I would assume if a trade goes through, there is an agreement in place on a long term deal so they'd be trading for the full value of Bell, not the guy that wont play this season. If NFL trades were like NHL trades, someone would offer a 1st, a starting cornerback, and a depth player haha.

All that said, I have only heard about picks as a potential return. Is there no team with depth on defense that would trade a defensive starter for Bell?

Steelers will have a bunch of cap space next season. I have no idea if there will be decent free agents available, but I think they may be able to put a band-aid on the D and compete for a championship.

To your larger point, yeah, Shazier was a star. Can't replace him. Drafting has killed the defense. Missed on too many high draft picks. Tomlin has become Dan Bylsma but the Steelers won't ever fire him. Sucks.

Maybe. I didn't like the pick when it was made. He looked good on Sunday though. The broader point I'm making is that so many people got their egos tied up in yelling "he sucks!" Now people are basically rooting for him to suck
