They're seeing what they got this preseason... then if they don't like what they see they'll risk sending him down.

I doubt there will be many teams clamouring for the opportunity to claim a meh net minder after a poop preseason.

when goalies like andersen can be bad for an entire october i think it's safe to say that a couple bad preseason games from sparks won't be why he's cut or not cut. dubas will be looking at trends over a longer period of time. maybe he has seen habits that are concerning even though he did well in the ahl. we'll see what happens

No its been reported and dubas even said, he wants nylander with the leafs long term, whether that be a short deal now and then a longer deal afterwards, or a long term deal now. He said he didnt know yet. But that he wants him with the leafs long term overall.

Sparks looks sluggish in the net at the NHL level - he is not physically strong enough to move his big frame around in the crease and recover square to shooters in the faster paced top level game.
