This list is retarded. I think ESPN or even SI's list was better than this. McKinnon #3? And Tavares and OV out of the top 10? - gravyface
OV not in the top 10 is questionable but Tavares isn’t a lock for top 10. |

Pickard seems like the best of the three in-house options. He's younger than McElhinney but has more NHL experience / success than Sparks. They could also go out and get one too. - Unholy_Goalie
There are 3 preseason games left; Andersen is starting two of them and McElhinney is starting one of them. I think it has already been decided. |

If you still think that Sparks is being considered, you didn't watch last night's game.

Age is not the issue, you're too focused on it, Mac can play more this year if Babcock decides he wants to rest Andersen. It's all about who is the best out of camp, if nobody can outplay Mac, that tells you who the backup should be this year. Once his contract is done they can take a look at the options again. It would be stupid to replace Mac with a goalie who isn't as good just because they are younger. |

Exactly, my point.. Babcock already naming the starters for the final 3 games is very telling. |

All the talk about Sparks and McElhinney fighting for the job while Pickard seems to be the forgotten man. Pickard to me is a younger version of McElhinney. Good enough to carry the load for stretches, but not a threat to Andersen. Sparks seems too emotional for a top tier goalie to me and McElhinney is a great backup, but I question if he can carry the load if something happens to Freddy. Wouldn't be surprised if Picks is the guy they go with. He's been solid in pre-season and has proven he can handle the work load when he was in Colorado. - Gusto
If Pickard outplays the other two I'm all for it. That would be actually be a great situation. |

Age is an issue because he has no future with the team. At least Pickard would be serviceable for many more seasons. |

Leafs gave up the 4th most shots in the NHL last year at 33.9 SA/GP and #1-3 didn't make the playoffs. They gave up 35 a game in the playoffs, 3rd most.
So if you want to get technical, the Leafs give up too many (frank)ing shots. Andersen was #1 in shots faced. So clearly, it's the Leafs. - Unholy_Goalie
So you're saying if the Leafs give up 2 less shots per game on average, the Stanley Cup is all but guaranteed? |

Hard to not have the most consistent goal scorer in the NHL to be in the top-10. Especially coming off a Conn Smythe. |

Andersen started the most games, so that increased the shots against.
Leafs allowed a lot of low danger chances. the shots were crap. |

Here's an interesting topic of conversation I saw on twitter. It's a little much but a fun discussion none the less.
Assuming no major injuries the Leafs lineup should (use this term lightly) look like this come trade deadline time:
Marleau - Matthews - Nylander
Hyman - Tavares - Marner
Ennis/Levio - Kadri - Brown
Johnsson - Lindholm - Kapanen
Reilly - Hainsey
Gardiner - Zaitsev
Dermott - Carrick/Ozzie
Anderssen
Mac/Sparks
The question then is.. Who do the Leafs target at the trade deadline? Possibly a "Hockey Trade", but more likely to be a pending UFA/rental for a playoff run. any thoughts? |

The Caps had a -2.9 shot differential, the Leafs were -1.7
So the key is to have a worse shot differential

Target an upcoming UFA top 4 D, or a young D that's established. They are set everywhere else. |

But Holtby was rested, which is why he underperformed his career averages. Wait... |
