baptiste has been passed over by many prospects, so good move IMO
- homiedclown

Agreed and I was always rooting for Baptiste. Hopefully he does something in Nashville.

It's good that Botts got something for him. At the very least, we got a young, right-handed D-man with upside. With Bogo chronically hurt, the more young, Right-D we stock pile, the better.

I was never involved in that debate. But one playing for the best team, while the other plays for the worst has something to do with it
- sbroads24

I agree, and I really think sam is gonna put up some serious points.

The caps cant be happy, wilson is 2 more hits like that away from being excommunicated from the nhl

This is actually a decent 4th line:
L4: Girgensons-Rodrigues-Pominville

- SabreWest

I mentioned this last blog, but if Bailey takes Pommenville's place next year, that should be a reasonably fast, tenacious 4th line.

If just one of Dougherty, Samuelsson, Hickey, Borgen turn into NHL regulars, JB's done well. If 2 (including any off the list) do, it's a homerun. What he's done for the defensive depth, and forward depth, in a little over a year is very impressive. Next step, goaltending.

I think there's a strong chance of that, and we'll finally get a proper 4th line at a normal cost.

Hmmmmph
Patrick Mahomes or Tre White?
It would be much more fun to watch an offense lead by him
... and dare I say they would have several more high draft picks in their lineup.
Sean may have some 'splaining to do.

We just need to burn out these veteran contracts.
I'd love to see Pommer stay with the organization in a front office position and settle in to buffalo.
But the pittsburgh way is to have cheap, tenacious 4th liners. if they grow out of their position, they get traded and replaced by the next AHL'er chomping at the bit. I feel like Botts is following that model.

Not necessarily, if the press claim him they have to put him on waivers again and risk him being claimed by someone else.
- ImThatGuy

I think if you are the only team to claim a guy you can send him to ahl still, I think.

Something else happens to this roster by Thursday.

Bogo robs a billionaire in broad daylight everyday, do we honestly believe T-Pegs is going to let it fly?

Larsson is the on ice version of Harrington

It's easy to say that now, but if you have Mahomes, you don't have Tre White and maybe don't have Edmunds. Now I would say when you have a (potential) top end QB the rest does not matter as much. I hope if we get a top 3 pick, we trade back like 3 times. More picks is better.

What was our starting 4th line last year? Wasn't Nolan on in? It's nice that we are getting starting to get some depth on our team.

- SabreWest

Last year to start the season:
Pominville was on line1 on Jack’s RW
Girgs was playing LW on RORs line
E Rod wasn’t in the lineup- hurt i think

Looked up the box score
Pretty sure it was
Larsson-Josefson-Nolan
as the 4th line to start last season

I agree... MUCH better 4th line

I'll never understand that line of thinking. He was given countless opportunities to make a team that desperately wanted him to succeed.
- Lunaion

They pigeonholed him into a 4th-line role. I think he could score 12-15 a year in the right scenario

Tre is no slouch, I like him.
Edmunds looks like when fully developed he'll be solid.
Mahomes looks like the real deal, and there were those who said he was the guy at QB in last years draft.
Hard not to wish the Bills had their franchise QB instead of wonder if they do.

I was on record saying i wanted to see a 4th line of
Bailey-Rodrigues-Baptiste

I knew it was pretty unlikely though

This group really loves spending picks to trade up. They traded up for Zay Jones. SO much draft capital wasted. I hope they realize they need help on offense, but I'm not counting on it

I am sick of spending all this money and draft picks to "fix the d"

it's really pathetic esp when watching this o line and wr's

they got kelvin, he sucks
they got zay jones, sucks

I seriously hope they go 1-15 so they can hire an offensive minded head coach

so, we're at 23, but we did it the wrong way?

I've got 22 also. 26 total, but I assumed Wilson, Larsson, Malone and Hunwick would all start on IR

I wonder if Pommer will settle into a role as a 4th liner for a few years?
Not necessarily with us,
but it seems like he’s the type of player who could be a solid dependable vet in a depth role

I wouldn’t have hated trading a 2nd for Landry and a 5th for Gordon
