Nylander is not really a C and he's soft like a pillow... With Weber out, Nylander missing camp and Kotkaniemi still very young, I believe this pick would still be a lottery pick!!

Maybe, not sure we can pass out on talent at this point. You know Nylander is a 60+ point guy, there's no garantee with those picks.

This is what I meant with the I don’t mind if they lose if it’s entertaining debate this summer.

We knew with Galchenyuk and Patches gone we don’t have any genuine snipper to score and some nights we’ll heavily outshoot the competition but still lose 2-1

- Fredo

I think while those guys are obviously talented, they were maybe too passive on many nights. It's nice to have a bit more of a "in your face" attitude, getting noticed even if they're not on the scoreboard.

61 points riding shotgun to Matthews unleashing those bombs from the slot, pretty sure my dog could rack up 20-25 assists on a line with Auston

Yeah but it was evident last night that they have alot more playmakers then goalscorers. I think Byron was the most dangerous guy shooting the puck, Gallgher will get his goals but most of them are with his feet in the blue paint. I guess most of them will be push-ins, rebounds or tips.

Agreed, which is why I disagree with the whole "automatic lottery pick" mindset we all have. We going all the way and winning the Cup. Pfft, no. But if we play 60% of the games like we did last night, we squeak into the playoffs, at the least, in classic Habs fashion. Not good enough to go all the way, not good enough for a decent draft pick. And let's face it, we can blame Timmins all we want, but those poopty draft picks are all we've been giving him for years.
- Darksyde

While I understand the value of high draft picks, I have a hard time hoping that the team I usually cheer for loses

Probably why Drouin stood up in a bad way, he doesn't really fit the blue collar mentality

Agreed. He was probably the only "disappointment" last name night, very very meh. I was surprised to see him on the ice to start the OT, I think Claude was a bit too nice with him right there

THE Good:
-Kotka looked stellar. Not sure he'll stick for the season or not but he did not look out of place.
-Domi was great. His passing was fantastic and he really moved the pace up the ice.
-Price had flashes of the Price of old. Could he have had one of the three... maybe... but looked very solid
-Grinding pace by the team was nice to see

THE Bad:
-Drouin seemed to continue to try to go it alone repeatedly 1 on 4.

Then again he’s the type of guy you want on the ice in that situation. They made a terrible change and got stuck on the ice

Drouin stays as far away from traffic as humanly possible, that's why he stands out and it's also why he'll never have the kind of impact that people were hoping for when they first acquired him

Price looked very sharp. only guys able to beat him were two of the league's 10 best players.

which is not the end of the world. Pacioretty was the same when he was scoring 35 goals regularly. you need someone to stay out of the pack.

Absolutely... that's why I said maybe.
The PP goal was a laser. The OT winner was perhaps the most 'saveable' of the bunch.

I don't think you can compare the 2... Drouin is the playmaker, he needs a C to finish off his plays, Pacioretty was the trigger, his shot got him all those goals. JD has a decent shot but doesn't use it as much. The only comparables in my opinion is that they're both a little afraid of the rough stuff

different players for sure. but my point was more that you want to get the puck to either player in space. Pacioretty to shoot it, Drouin to do something a bit more creative.
