Read comments first...Bruin fans comments "Don't rub it in if you don't have the hands to throw"
Watched video...Marchand sucker punches him, Eller still has gloves on while Marchand is jumping throwing punches. Eller gets his gloves off, Marchand contacts with a couple punches. Eller laughs at Marchand.
I have to look up what the penalties were that the officials handed out, but I would say that deserves at least 1 game, maybe 2 for repeat offender. - Glak18
I hate Marchand and I have to say I'm okay with what was handed out in the game. |

Should be suspended for that.
It is suprising to me that after all these years nobody has truly knocked him on his ass. - flyer_nutter

Boo-(frank)ing-hoo. Don’t want to get chirped at? Try showing up and playing the damned game. The Bruins put forth a miserable effort last night. Instead of sucker punching Ellers, Marchand should have smacked himself and everyone of his teammates upside the head for the pathetic effort they showed last night. Marchand is a piece of crap and if karma really exists, guys like him and Tom Wilson will end the season with a couple of blown out knees. - BiggE
So you would be good with flyers pumping each other up on the bench after the other team starts chirping? Cmon. Games like this happen to every team every year. I want it addressed on the ice as a fan and I’d hope the team would. |

I wouldn't be upset if no suspension is given. 5 + instigator and misconduct, but their next game in January should be fun then they play the following month. |

Pretty nice video. Thanks for the post Glak.
Wouldn't it be something if they came out and dominated tonight. Coaching or whatever aside, I do think this club is on a real rise again. Enjoy the ride. |

Looks like Wilson will be back next time they see the Bruins in January. Best case scenario:
Wilson Vs Chara....Chara knocks Wilsons head off and immediately retires.
Marchand Vs Ovechkin...AO picks him up, slams him over crossbar and Marchand immediately retires. - Glak18

Flyers have done it too, hell Emery is the most recent example I can think of. If he wanted to fight Eller fine, but at least let the guy see you are coming. |

I have no problem with challenging a guy to a fight, but you don’t start throwing while he still has his gloves on. Did Eller run one of the B’s from behind? Head shot one of em? Nope, he ran his mouth. Again, if you don’t want to be ridiculed, don’t fall behind 7-0. |

If someone chirped the Flyers bench during a blowout and Gudas did that...I would feel the same.
I know "do not celebrate during a blowout" is an official unofficial rule no matter the league, but so is throwing before the other guy has his gloves off. Punishment for the latter is a crosscheck to the back of neck or face when they don't see it coming. Then the cycle continues over and over. |

I know that Emery fight is more known to Flyer fans as a jump start to the team getting back on track that season, but even to this day I have trouble watching it...it was a coward move on Emery's part. |

The 2nd PP unit may get hot and get more ice time but I'd be very surprised if the coaching staff elects to lower the ice time of the first unit with perhaps the two best players at their position on the PP in the NHL on it. - MJL
I think JvR being on the second unit could potentially kill JvR with fans. This guy is on the brink of being a 40 goal scorer. If he doesn’t at least match 36 or touch 30, I think fans turn on him. |

Are you talking about Emery and Braden Holtby? Emery skated from one end to the other of the ice and told him to pretent himself. Might not have been right but Holtby was warned. Emery and Simmonds were also trying to light a fire under their team as they were getting embarrassed on home ice. |

I also think that in the hierarchy of unwritten rules, no celebrating a blowout scoreline is much lower than punching an another unsuspecting player. |

And Emery went out the next night, shut out the Devils, and the Flyers season started to turn around very shortly thereafter. Right or wrong, the guys in the room LOVED what he did, even if many outside it were condemning it. It let out a lot of frustration and brought the team closer together.
Not saying it was the right thing for Emery to do, but it had an internally positive effect. |

any word on a suspension for Marchand after his beat down on Eller last night? - landros 2
Why would/should he be suspended? To me he just whooped his as$ for taunting the bench after he scored. |

There are rules in place for this stuff and the refs called it. I'm pretty sure that the instigator penalty is there for guys who go after guys who may or may not want to fight. Until they change the rule to include an automatic suspension and/or hearing it seems to me it's been legislated already.
I've never liked when things carry over from game to game like that. It just leads to anticipation, excitement and a possible rivalry. |

Prediction for tonight’s game flyers win 4-3 in a shootout with Patrick scoring the clinching goal. |

Damn I didn't think the Marchand fight would be this controversial. If any Flyer did this after being down 7-0 no one would say boo.
Just another fight. Nothing more, nothing less. |

I think it's gonna be a moot point anyway, because the league likely won't touch Marchand now that the weaselly little bastard is considered a star, and all.
That said, I'm still pleasantly surprised they sat that steakhead Tom Wilson for 20 games. |

I can't stand Marchand but of all the crappy things he's done I think this is as close to being both crappy and not suspendable.
Initially I thought "WHOA" when I heard 20 games for Wilson but then I saw how tight his suspension history is. I actually think his hit in the playoffs was far worse then this one and deserved so much more then he got but I definitely had to reconsider my first reaction. Still surprised it was 20 rather than 12/15 but he really isn't getting it. |

Why should Wilson have gotten it?
The league has been soft on him in the past and Washington just gave him a fat contract?
What incentive has he had to be better? |
