The Whalers throwbacks are a travesty.

If the Sabres relocated to Kansas City and re-branded as the Microbrews, then 20 years later wore Buffalo Sabres throwbacks, I would be devastated. I can't imagine being a Hartford fan seeing this now in all honesty.

Being a CT resident, it does hurt to see the Canes capitalize on the beloved Whale. Love or hate the Whale, the jerseys were classic. They left the year after I graduated college. If they were still here, I'd probably have season tickets or at least a partial package. It stinks having to go to NY, NJ or Boston to catch a live game.

That being said, in my opinion the Whalers were they were never fully appreciated when they were here. Maybe they were doomed from the start, its tough to drop a pro team right between the Boston and NY markets and expect a great following. Plus they had an awful deal with the civic center and the state wouldn't contribute anything towards a new arena. I was sad they left, but not surprised.
