Botchford eh?
This is gonna trigger some people. - Nucker101
It could have been written by anyone and the author would get attacked.
Funny thing is that there was nothing really new and it presented both sides. Linden as detached and changing his strategy. Weisbrod as underhanded and attached to Benning. And FA as meddlesome.
Just enough ammo for every side to be upset.

I was thinking the same but didn't want to pee in anyones' cornflakes. Way to take the initiative!

Meh only if you aren't flying somewhere fun, Carribean islands are pretty great! Japan is fun... but yeah I don't get non-island people. They creep me out.

Writes for The Athletic?!?!
I thought it was a reputable read with authentic journalism? He really should go work for TMZ. - Marwood
I think the Athletic has a big hole in "quick" content. Long form stuff is great and the detail in some stories is awesome, but I don't always want to read an essay.
Reading a pre-gamer or recap is useless but beat reporting can have a lot of timbits. And there's like 2.5 beat guys in town between Botchford, JPat, Kuzma (eh) and Murphy (not really a journalist).

How long until the beat reporting is done by the team/league or the quotes are provided to the newspapers where AI generates stories/reports?
I'm totally serious.

Teams already do it. They have their own fluff pieces on their website/league site. The rights holder already gets preferential treatment and you have plugs like IMac pushing whatever narrative he's told to say.
As long as there is money in independent reporting, I wouldn't worry. Its a nice thing about the Athletic that it isn't owned by the only newspaper company or two sports networks. Plus, as far as marketing, social media and stuff goes the independent side has a lot of opportunities for free press that a state run opp wouldn't get.
Plus, if you cut off independent access then I think you start to lose any ability to control the message that people believe.

Can’t be any worse than the yearly local news report at the beginning of every Canuck campaign where the reporter walks outside the studio and asks random people their opinion of the upcoming season.
They’ve being doing it since time began. So (frank)ing lazy.
1) complete opposite of preseason (apart from brock not scoring) - good tending, taking all the penalties, actually converting on chances. where was this team hiding?
2) watching EP score brought a tear to my eye. had to rewatch that few minute period several times. he's already our top center. going to be a special player for a long time. such a massive relief as a canucks fan.
3) travis green coach of the year management absolutely made the right calls with the roster. this team is actually built decently! now we just need to insert more skill as we move forward
4) team d was much better. flames outplayed us in the 3rd but they were chasing so it's expected.
I'd honestly have a new found respect for Benning if he did something like that(assuming Schaller doesn't play decently by the time Roussel is back). - Nucker101

If anything , hopefully EP emerging a bit puts the pressure of that line a little and they can fins their stride here. Also I totally agree the penalties really through everything out of whack until the third. - neem55
absolutely. had that thought a few times last night.

He has done it before with Burmistrov and Weirchoch
