I wonder if Blues, Flames, and Golden Knights fans are already throwing in the towel like we are. I’m upset just like everyone else. Let’s see how the team responds on Saturday. Heck let’s give them 15 games before we throw in the towel. If this team isn’t at the very least in the playoff discussion in early February then housley should be gone.

Have to win at least 1 of these 4 home games to start IMO. If they go 0-4 at home to start the season its gonna be full panic/hot seat mode.

The seven games he spent with girgensons and griffith he actually created chances at the rate of a 2nd line centre. the problem was G and G, not Reinhart. I think he could play the Kadri role among the centres here.

The eye test on this one overrides what the numbers say in that limited sample IMO.

He looked terrible there

Over? Did you say over? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the German's bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no! And it ain't over now!

perhaps many felt it was a mope-worthy performance, one that they've seen way too many times recently?

Hutton looked really good, I thought. It was nice to see a goalie stop a breakaway. He had no chance on goals 2 and 3. Goal 1 he came out to cut down the angle, just a good shot by Chara.

The thing that amazes me about this team the last few years is their lack of hockey IQ. Poor positioning in the defensive zone led to all 3 goals. It's like a squirts game where 3 people chase the puck and leave a guy wide open by the side of the net. Just stupid hockey. Scandella was to blame on goals 1 and 2 (partially Eichel I suppose on Chara) and goal 3 was Dahlin/Thompson

- turbo044

I love this point about lacking hockey IQ. Honest question...is it lack of Hockey IQ or bad coaching? Product of both? Tough to watch.
If I may..
*this team never looks dangerous. No odd man rushes. No tick tac toe plays. Boring.
*Bowl-U is a massive trainwreck in all facets of the game. That alone makes me angry

Rhino fan-
Sam played well, but was not the best forward.
From where I was sitting, kyle okposo, evan Rodriguez and connor sheary all out played sam.

Sam did have a couple nice moves for sure.

He was better then eichel last night for sure

I don't think the sample size was large enough for either. Id give it another shot to see if something comes of it or if it goes all cody franson on them. Then you'll know for sure.

Id much rather take that risk than have Berglund at centre.

The issue here is that none of those teams have been an absolute train wreck for a better part of ten years, I was not happy with the game at all, but I'm far from throwing in the towel.
I think winning breeds passion in the fan base if we didn't finish dead last 3 out of the last 5 years then I think the reactions to last night are far less negative.
I haven't seen many posters here giving up on the season just overall really disappointed with what they saw last night.

goals were bing bang boom
goalie had no chance really

sabres did a lot of little things well

but they did a lot of little things really bad

it's only 1 game, but the team needs to attack the net more and set up screens instead of 18-20 foot floaters on net

- homiedclown

Where was the best net front presence since vanek?

If we played the whole game like we did before the bruins scored their first goal, we would be having an entirely different conversation.

But.

After the bruins scored the wheels came off and bad habits came back really quickly, that’s partially because we are so young but some of that falls on leadership and coaching. The Sabres last night looked fragile mentally.

I totally agree

I'm a big eichel fan, but after we were down a goal or 2, he looked mentally frail. Basically the last 3 years, slapped him in the face.

Eichel needs to step up or this is gonna be a long season.

I don’t 100% disagree but as soon as teams think there is someone else they have to guard besides him, teams are just going to swarm him like they always do.
