statistically speaking (so everyone can ignore what i write next) It makes more sense to keep Eichel and Skinner together than separate them cause of one bad game.

Eichel drives possession and is one of the few centres in the league that can boost a wingers shooting percentage. And skinner is one of the few who can take advantage of that regularly.

Im a broken record but they really should look to give Reinhart another shot at Centre, this time with real wingers. It would solve a lot of depth issues going forward.

- Sabresfan-365

I wouldn’t mind seeing that
But i don’t think you’ll see that kind of drastic change for a while

If u were to do that,
how would u construct the lines with our current roster?

Sheary-Eichel-Okposo
Skinner-Reinhart-Thompson
Berglund-Mittelstadt-Rodrigues?
Girgensons-Sobatka-Pominville

I wouldn’t mind seeing something like that
But if Berglund is moved to the wing,
i think u see Sobatka at 3C before Sam is moved back to the middle
Even E Rod at 3C before Sam moves,
and Girgs would move over to 4C (or Larsson)

The seven games he spent with girgensons and griffith he actually created chances at the rate of a 2nd line centre. the problem was G and G, not Reinhart. I think he could play the Kadri role among the centres here.
- Sabresfan-365

It was Pouliot, not Girgs
Girgs actually started in the top6 last year

Point taken though
I agree Sam could potentially be effective at Center if he had some decent wingers instead of a guy no longer playing hockey (Pouliot didn’t get signed, did he?), and a career AHLer

Hoping things just kind of got away from them last night and they learn from their mistakes.

Too many drop passes.

Too many passes instead of shooting (Jack, I'm looking at you).

Too much standing around and trying to be reactive instead of dictating the game.

Too many passes into each others feet instead of on the stick.

All of this is easily correctable. Whether or not it happens is yet to be seen though.

This feels like a recurring thing with him to start seasons. Then he eventually starts shooting all the time.

sheary was floating a lot between the blue line and red line looking for a break out pass when we were in our own zone fighting to get the puck

the play overall in our own zone I thought was much better then last year but in the bruins zone, it was amateur hour

I don’t hate that at all
As long as Nylander & Thompson are playing well

3 scoring lines
Line4 takes a lot of DefZone starts

This is the coaching we have been getting the last couple years... 1 game... switch lines... 2 games switch lines. Therefore never building chemistry with line mates. And in turn... getting what we get.

perhaps many felt it was a mope-worthy performance, one that they've seen way too many times recently?

Not that I dislike you on other days.

But today, you are ON!

Well Gerbe gives us millennials a bad rap sometimes, so I have to at least provide some logic on these boards

I think every year eichel thinks his linemates are way better than they are, and then he begins to realize it’s on him to be the difference maker

I don’t 100% disagree but as soon as teams think there is someone else they have to guard besides him, teams are just going to swarm him like they always do.
- sbroads24

That's a valid point, I guess we need our co-25 goal scorer to step up.

I thought pommer played well last night.

Berglund is gonna be disliked greatly from what I saw.

Sure its 1 game, but st. Louis made us take him and sobotka . It's pretty clear to me. Off set ror's salary

I really like eichel with sam, but if sam is moved down or to center, okposo- eichel is the move to make.

Okposo played hard last night

Eichel sucked. He's the one player on the team that should elevate play to encourage others to play better, but, hes not that kind of guy. A captain is a leader, a warrior and thats not jack.

I also think the orielly trade was unnecessary. We got fleeced by St Louis. We shouldve been paid to take the crap contracts of bergland and svbotka. That deal shouldve been seperate from the orielly deal.

SAME COACHING STAFF. SAME RESULTS.

There seems to be a lot of new/different posters chiming in (with real takes) in his absence.

I agree with most of your statement but:

I think you are overrating ror.

Dude was a quitter. Who was going to give up a prospect in Thompson, a 1st and a second to overpay ror?

You must be pumped about the leafs though

Yeah, if we had O’Reilly, we would have lost 3-0 instead of 4-0 last night

Win or lose, still getting paid n' laid.
It's too early to harp on the team, give it a dozen games to get the wrinkles ironed out, then letm' have it.
