Agreed...Nylander will get his money elsewhere but hurt his career
- Leafcup

I don't care what he does anymore. Sign...don't sign...whatever.

Why is everybody okay with equating Nylander and Kapanen? Not even close.
- AdamFrench

Why do you assume because a number of names is listed that the person is "equating" them.

Kapanen may be due for a raise and the Leafs are right up against it with their cap, so he also might not get what he wants.

Where did you get that I was saying Kapanen = Nylander?

yup I'm with you on this one.
It will make that much tougher on Nylander when the Leafs are 8-2-0 after 10 games.

After a couple lower end teams, don't they have a like 4 or 5 tough ones in a row coming up?

Chicago on 7th
Dallas on the 9th
Washinton on the 13th
LA on the 15th
Pittsburgh on the 18*
Jets on the 24th

the Washington and Jets games concerns me but the others I have confidence that the Leafs can pull a W out of it.

I didnt get that impression at all from what you said.

I want to see Kapanen play a reg shift on the pp and with higher end talent before i judge him. He can be crazy good on the PK sometimes.

Maybe it’s cause we haven’t seen him play in awhile.. but people are forgetting how (frank)ing good Nylander is

Kap had not been given the opportunity until this year and even then if he sticks on the fourth line which he should not that will change

Yes Willy is really good but not great yet.....he is likely to make a bad decision here....his career will not be the same if he pushes to be traded....he can all the glory he can handle if he signs here but has to commit

He’s really good but he’s gonna sign for the Leafs number, not for what he wants. No leverage whatsoever and if he requests a trade Dubas will just say no. His agent is an idiot.

I think i would be happy if kap topped out as a 40 point player. Willy is a much better player.

I dunno why did Ottawa trade their pick last year?
Sometimes GM's see a deal they like and do it..

Note the word "try" did not say Colorado would do it.

That said Nylander playing with Landeskog, and MacKinnon would be pretty fun to watch.

- fsanford

They thought they were a cup contender and were "going" for it. They actually were playing very well prior to that trade and went to game 7 of the conf. finals the previous playoffs.

1st - have to be really bad to not achieve that
2nd - relatively easy to win a Calder with Marlies with the financial resources Leafs' org has. (it's a great thing, but not that big of an achievement).
try do it with the Tucson Roadrunners

- plantheparade

1. How is it really easy to sign a franchise C away from his team? Have you noticed this NEVER, EVER happens? It's been a quarter century since a star #1 pick left his team as a UFA in his prime.

2. If it's easy to win the Calder cup with the Leafs resources, why had it never happened before?

You are making terrible excuses. These "Easy Things" never happened before so they can't be easy.

Leafs aren’t a lock to win the cup, the whole he can play for a dynasty thing everyone is throwing out there sounds nice but the team is worse off without Nylander. Matthews is playing with Tyler Ennis and 40 year old Marleau right now.. leaf fans need to stop pretending that they can just play without one of the best young wingers in the NHL and not miss a beat now and in the future.
