Do you think the Kings would trade for Neuvirth with his injury history? - MJL
Yes. They could do something like a games played. Trade a 7th for Neuvy. If he plays 17 games it becomes a 6.
To act like the Kings wouldn't even entertain the idea is beyond laughable.
A good GM would atleast look at all options on the table.

I think he just cleared waivers and was sent to SWB. |

I know Mason wanted the starter role, but you think he'd retire rather than be a back up? Interesting.
And sadly I don't think Hextall will trade Eliott, Pickard, or Hart. Which leaves you Neuvirth, Stolarz, and Lyon "the Hobbled Crew" I agree that we won't get much for them, although nothing is better than something... And that's assuming they come off their own IR quickly. I know he said something about Neuvirth being almost ready to go.
I just wouldn't bet on a trade - it's just too early. - FlyersGrace
I am not betting on a trade at all. I was making a joke when I said get it done in all caps...However, with soon to be 6 healthy goalies for 4 spots, it isn't out of the realm of possibility.
It was reported that he turned down a backup offer this offseason. They could trade Pickard rather than send him back on waivers if they decided they didn't need him anymore. I would suspect that is a pretty unlikely scenario, but who knows at this point.
Neuvirth is the most talented one, so it really depends if the Flyers feel like keeping him around or if they've decided they're done with him. If they were going to get something for him, a team's starter going down to injury would be the scenario. Throw on a contingency and the other team can essentially get a free trial to see how he does (Ben Bishop was recently traded for what amounted to nothing).
Bottom line is if you're a team that just lost a starter to injury for a while (still unknown - Quick is week to week), you don't have many choices to acquire goalies a week into the season. A team with 6 of them might stick out as a place to get one. |

JVR played 80+ games 4 of last 5 years with Leafs. Took a game and half for him to get hurt here. Laughable. At least the other free agent signing Folin looked like a stud. |

He is faking injury so he doesn't get traded.

#Flyers say James van Riemsdyk will miss the next five to six weeks after a clearing attempt hit him in the right knee Saturday.

Having stipulations in the contract that change the compensation does not not eliminate the real risk and having to go out and get another goaltender when the inevitability of another injury happens. I find your statement of "to act like the Kings wouldn't even entertain the idea is beyond laughable' to be not only disingenuous but stupid. Why did the Flyers claim Pickard?

Dude..I dont get you..
He got hit on the knee with a puck being cleared..
I like how you somehow are trying to tie that into the Flyers fault. |
