Keep an eye on NYR . Right out of the gate 0-3 with 14 goals against. |

D-fence plan:
Trade tanev for a first or high young D prospect
Next year:
Sign nate Schmidt
Sign Tyler Myers
Re-sign edler to a 2-year deal cheaper
Edler - Myers
schmidt - QH
Guddy - OJ

Schmidt is a LHD we don't need any unless you are saying adios to Edler |

Don’t be sad. He was the good. He’s looking better than JB’s pick of Joulvi and Virtanen at this point. I’m guessing career wise also. |

Not sure what you're laughing at. The examples you use are not comparative.
Brett Connolly - $1.5M
Devante Smith Pelly - $1M
Lars Eller - $3.5M
Chandler Stephenson - $650K
Alex Chiasson - $650K
Your idea of a relatively cheap third liner differs from mine. - bloatedmosquito
My idea of a decent 3rd liner is different then yours. I think you might be just stuck in the old days where 3rd and 4th liners were paid like they weren't hockey players. Different era now. All players are getting paid. As I said 171 in contracts right now for forwards. Chiasson has been in 4 teams in the past 4 years. |

Last reminence of Gillis regime. - thundachunk
Poor bugger. In here, anything associated with Gillis must be removed or destroyed.
Gillis' tenure really rattled a lot of fans. I would suggest professional help for some. |

It will take 10 years to fix what he did. We are half way there only |

You can. Injuries will start to pile up by that point and the tank will start. |

Calgary traded a first round pick (13th overall) to a division rival after playing just 66 games in the NHL for a second round pick. That rarely happens. That shows you how confident the Flames were that his career impact would be minimal.
I don't use poor contract management by NHL GMs as my benchmark to evaluate cost vs benefit.

All true, but the same was said about Burke's and Nonis' tenure. Both left the pool empty.
The last three canuck GMs were going for it. They had the right idea as the canucks were close. But none of them could get the job done.
Oh well, let's see if Benning is any better... |

The defense is really bad especially if Tanev or Edler get injured, and goaltending is mediocre. |

I can see Brock slumping this year. He will figure it out . Nothing to make an issue of. He might need time in Utica to find his game again. |
