The wiki page has a table for waivers exemptions. If I read it right, because he is a 3rd year pro and 23 y.o. he would have to pass through waivers. - Rota's Rooter
That was helpful because I don't know all of the tiny rules and details. |

I hope Ward can carry out the team's (altered) mission statement: only give up ONE GOAL.
He needs to redeem himself tonight with that effort. Toews and Kane will take care of the rest. |

Believe that this is just the beginning. Believe that we are on it. Believe in #ONEGOAL
Love this. Points to the front office having a 3-5 year plan (at least) in place, and plan to be contenders again very soon. - ToewsdNKanefusd
Believe that Stan has ruined this franchise. Believe that Q hates young players. Believe that McD's meddling ways have prevented this team from experiencing any long term success. |

I don't know if you're serious about getting him, but I liked him here. - I Am The Breadman
Dauphin is a career AHLer. |

You are right, I left out per period. Thank you haha
I might like him more if he could do that. |

We already had Dauphin here last year - did anyone miss him when he left?

I did. I liked him. For what we had at the time, he stood out for me. |

Best case scenario for the comings and goings of the d-men this season:
Keith here all year - Hawks won't trade him and he's good on ice tutor for Joki
Seabrook here all year - no one will trade for him with that contract
Jokiharju here all year - future mainstay
Forsling here all year - potential future mainstay
Gustafsson - trade him if you can
Murphy - trade him if you can
Rutta - trade him if you can
Manning - trade him if you can
Davidson - release him if the roster spot is needed when Murphy comes back
Hopefully one or two of the "trade him if you can" guys plays well enough to interes a trade partner. |

That being said, being a career AHLer isn't a bad thing, some guys can still earn a decent living. But when teams are navigating their way through the salary cap it makes more sense to try their own prospects then take a chance on Dauphine.
Note: now that I have jinxed us I fully expect the Hawks to claim Dauphin. |

Insane goalie management by Q ,and the HAWKS are not fooling anyone .. Forsberg will be gone and we will be stuck with Ward as a weak back up ,and 1 goalie prospect in the pipeline .All because Q hates anyone Stan brings in a trade . |

I don't get why people want to trade Gustafsson... he'd been good and he's cheap (his cap hit, not his spending habits). Who replaces Gus, especially if you're also trading away half the D.
I wouldn't trade Murphy either, I still think he has value.
When all the D are healthy I would expect these guys to play (pairings will vary)
Keith - Jokiharju
Forsling - Murphy
Gustafsson - Seabrook
Manning
Rutta - traded
Davidson - waived |

I don't agree with some of your trade them if you can, but that's not my main point. What do you see as a good/fair/equal return for those four guys?
It was brought to my attention by someone that Hartman was a former first rounder so we got a first round pick in return plus more. Does Murphy, former first rounder, get a first round pick in return? |

First part bolded. I remember talking with you about this, and someone else (apologies to the person who was part of the conversation that I can't remember.) I never said that I want him traded, I said that I expect him to be traded. There is a difference. It is just a gut feeling that I have that he will be traded.
Second part bolded. His trade value seems to be right around the level of dog crap. I don't know what to expect from him if/when that happens. I'm not saying that it can't happen, I just don't think that we will like the return if it happens. |

I think Seabrook, Keith, Jokiharju and Murphy will be mainstays on defense for the next few years (at least). Manning and Gustafsson could be expendable but not until next season. The Hawks will want to want and see if any of Boqvist, Mitchell and/or Beaudin are NHL ready. Forsling could be a mainstay but he could lose his place in the organization too. |

I don't see Seabs or Keith changing sweaters. Hawks for life. Joki will be a hawk for a long time. Murph, I could see being traded sooner than you map out. Him and Anisimov have been dangled as trade bait frequently, even over the summer and last tdl. Him being injured now will change that, for now. I really hope Fors can stay. He might not be the missing piece on d, seeing as we have so many missing pieces, but he could help us out a lot. |

Minority plus 1.
I always liked them and I always will. "Wakey wakey, Backes" is basically shirt material. I loved Keith in that moment. Then there is a picture of Seabs that is my all-time favorite. I can't remember if they had just won the cup, or if it was his ot winner against Det, but all of the guys are surrounded around Seabs and his eyes are closed but he's screaming. I love that picture. |

Of the 5 guys I listed as "trade him if you can" - Gustafsson and Murphy are the two who I want traded the least. Get rid of Manning, Rutta and Davidson in that order - based on play AND cap hit.
I agree Gustafsson isn't terrible but that's mostly because he's pretty good offensively, which is to say he's not good defensively. Murphy I started to come around on so I wouldn't mind him staying but he may be the most attractive trade chip so that's why I put him in the trade him category.

That Seabrook moment was after his OT and series winner vs the Wings after the team came back many times from the brink of elimination. Yes, classic moment.
Other classic Keith moments: (1) his goal in Game 6 vs the Lightning which ended up being the GWG to clinch the 2015 Cup, and (2) his massive hit on Arvidsson despite that being the series the Hawks got swept by the bitter rival Predators.
And agree and actually don't mind at all that both 2 and 7 will be Hawks for life. |

Agree with you on Gus he has speed and can pass. Plus the reasons you stated. |

What was Kempny's perceived value when he was traded last year? He was in and out of the press box, and when he did play he was all or nothing. There were many teams that were pursuing Rutta when he was planning to come over. I would guess a mid round pick could be had for him as well (or at least Rob Scuderi). |

Somebody will part with a third or fourth round pick for Rutta. |
