Been out of town a while, but here is what I see so far:
Pleasant surprise in Toews and first line. Hope it lasts.
Second line - not surprised at all that they are not a good line.
Schmaltz with three SOG in three games over sixty minutes of ice time. Saad with five SOG in three games over almost sixty minutes of ice time.
How long before the league figures out this is still a one line team and just focuses on shutting down Toews’ line?
Kunitz has to go. He is still a crafty veteran at times, but just too slow, and not much scoring from whomever is in the bottom six.
D....
What D? These games are shootouts so far, and I don’t see this pace or style as sustainable. I also see another full year of 8+ D guys playing for the six open spots.
With the rumor of CC returning, it comes into focus why Ward is here - he is better than any of the youngsters by a country mile. Forsberg just seems to not be ready for the speed of the NHL game on a consistent basis. Anyone behind him is even greener. |

What was Kempny's perceived value when he was traded last year? He was in and out of the press box, and when he did play he was all or nothing. There were many teams that were pursuing Rutta when he was planning to come over. I would guess a mid round pick could be had for him as well (or at least Rob Scuderi). - Chunk
Part of it too, with Kemp, he wasn't getting along with Q. He came out and said it. I respect Bowman for clearing the bad air, got a decent return, and won a cup. Bowman didn't screw Kemp with the trade. Same with Hartman, he didn't put him on a crappy team. I respect moves like that because when guys are gone, I don't like to see them fail.
Rutta might have had some followers, but his concussion and recent play has been poor. He gets along with Q just fine. I'd be fine with a mid round pick. |

Kahun antsy with the puck and Keith couldn't keep it in.
Really Kane ...??? |

Come on Hayden, tap into previous face-breaking skills. |

How many times does that lazy drop pass need to be picked off before they stop doing it? |

Nice to see Joki on the 1st unit power play, but until someone stands in front of the goalie the power play will always struggle |

Debrincat also seems to be playing calmer.
I like the aggression from Fortin in his two shifts so far. |

Love seeing Toews sprinting to the net for that puck. Ultra focus in every way. Has awareness of everything |
