JetsNation - are you suggesting Myers played well tonight ?!?

I musta been watching another game ... if I see Myers and Morrow together again I will surely puke ... Myers has me worried

Hats off to Brossoit ... fine outing

Am I missing something - - - why does it seem our guys take so long to get into the game ?

- CorydonKeith

Myers indeed had a very good game all despite Morrow making a ton of mistakes. Corydon , tell me where you saw him make one major mistake tonight ( and don't use that Aho breakaway as a mistake because it was clearly Perreault's fault). Morrissey was our best dman tonight. Myers was second. Heck Trouba made three major gaffes on one shift in the first yet everyone ignores it. I still regard Myers as our fourth best defenseman but he gets a bad rap by some fans on here. Its often becuase his height makes him look a bit akward out there. He is extremely versatile, plays both specialty teams, and makes a lot of plays with his reach that no other defennceman on the Jets can make. Granted his first two games were not very good , but his last three have been very good.

not missing anything. Myers and Morrow were terrible in our own end. Come to think of it. Everyone was horrible in our own end. Except Brossoit

I said Dano would go unclaimed, I was wrong.

JN - no one play in particular re Myers ... my general impression was that he was coughing puck up and making some bad passes ... he was also on the ice, again, when we were scored on

I think he'll turn it around ... my general feeling is the Jets as a team aren't at 100% yet - they still look rusty ... this may be a response to elevated expectations so I have not pushed the ol panic button

Nope, but the Jets save almost $1 MM per year in cap space or if they stay 23 man roster.... few hundred K. Wish him luck in the Avs press box. I thought the Sun article on him was interesting today. Jets actually deeply wanted Tovalainen in the Blackhawks Ladd trade but couldn't get it done. Dano ended up being the throw in. Jets waived him to give him a chance either elsewhere, or to get some playing time on the Moose.

Might be a replacement for Sheldon Dries on the Avs

We just gave a middle six forward to a division rival. Excellent.

Jersey will be ordered shortly

If he's in the middle 6 on the Av's. we'd be happy to play against him

Rexy & others - get used to it

As our core gets more firmly established and those big long term contracts get signed, we'll have to cycle players through on the low end ... some will be dropped, other traded, etc ... what we'll really need are players on ELC's that can produce and be easily sent to Moose and brought back again, freely

Believe that's how Chicago did it ... although they mortgaged the farm

It’ll work. It’s fun for the whole family. Every line has a playmaker, a sniper, and a play driver.

I never liked him as a player, but am happy to see him get a possible chance elsewhere, before he heads overseas for next year.

I really don't see where Dano (lefty) fits in Colorado. The team is already absolutely full of left-handers. They only have two right-handed forwards on the whole roster so they have lefty's playing on RW. It's nothing more than a depth move in case of injuries or limited 4th line role. He'll get bounced around there like a ping pong ball in a lottery machine. Bednar coached in Columbus...maybe some familiarity with Dano.

My guess is he plays "3rd line" with Soderberg and Ghetto once he is back from injury.
Matt Nieto has been awful and Dano would slide into his spot. Bednar coached Dano while he was in teh columbus AHL system so he is familiar with him.

He probably starts on the Calvert Compher line but will end up wiht Sodereberg eventually

Well. Good luck with him. He was passed by in the Jets depth chart this year by Lemieux, and Vesalainen, and also Petan. He, therefore, became expendable. My opinion is he is too small and get bounced off the puck a lot along the boards. He's also a bit slow, but at least faster than last year. On the positive side, he has good vision and passing skills and has heart. Hendricks was a very positive influence on him last year. In the end its an Avalanche gamble with little to no cost. I had thought maybe Ottawa or some other bottom half team might pick him up first , but I guess Colorado was the beneficiary ( maybe) of no other team wanting him.

Bednar coaching him in the past (where he had some of his best pro production to date) is the wildcard for me. He clearly knows how to get the best of him, so why not take the gamble. They clearly have liked him and had their eye on him for a while (not the 1st time his name has been mentioned in Avs rumour circles)

The Ehlers/Laine 2v0 with no backpressure and lack of a decent shot, no one getting rebound needs a mention here: This is exactly what the issue is when those two play on the same line. Two shooters trying to set up their buddy.

they should flip a coin before the game or play rock/paper/scissors so they are clear who is going to shoot the puck in any given game. Individually - magic. Together - wasted.

Well. Definitely, a good thing we missed out in the Statsny sweepstakes. He is now out as much as three to four months. Ouch to Vegas.

On another note. Jets PK is now back to 7th best in the league.

They shouldn’t be together at all. They’re both pure snipers. They both have flashes of playmaking brilliance, they both generally keep their head above water defensively, and they both live and die by scoring goals. The key difference is that Laine leans on generational shooting ability, while Ehlers creates space with speed. They just don’t mesh.
