It's not whether its a penalty or not. It's sticking up for your star player. Can't let teams run around knowing they have nobody to answer to.

And Bieksa's always been more of a lone wolf, he usually fought guys who pissed him off personally, not really a guy who would settle the score for his teammate. Petty much all the fights I can remember with him were ones where he had beef with a player or was just pounding on a non-fighter for fun lol.

not to mention this gives the panthers time to call up a tough guy to prepare for it, and the NHL will instruct the refs to call a penalty during every little scrum after reading those comments.

Bullpoop, it's a violent game. Going after guys for clean hits is dumb. I'm all for it when someone crosses the line. Great if someone tags him or one of their skilled players with a clean hit.
